They call him Kradak, but his friends call him Steve. He's big and strong, an actor who plays a hero named Kradak in a series of B-movies. When Rista and Grint come through the portal from Arkana, they don't understand what a movie is. They think Steve truly is Kradak the Champion. Hugely disappointing
Revisado: 01-26-24
I cannot even talk about the story of this book because the narration is so distracting I cannot not get into it nor through it. The narrator, Wayne Michell, is too dramatic and in my opinion does a huge disservice to Inmon’s writing. Feels to me like he is attempting to draw undue attention to the characters as if Inmon’s writing is unable to stand on its own merits. His narration does not guide the listener in a such a way that we are engaged and transported into the story, the way the Shawn Inmon novels I have previously listened to have done. His over dramatic rendering is so juvenile that I thought I was listening to a cartoon. I had to check to see if this was indeed a Shawn Inmon novel. I have listened to Inmon’s Alex Hawk series , Middle Falls Time Travel series and The Chronicles of Astor series in their entirety and loved each and every book. His talent for storytelling, and range of differences of stories with similar plots is truly a testament to his talent and imagination. The way his characters rouse such feelings and emotion that I feel like they are my fictional friends, or occasionally, my fictional foes. I cry and rejoice with them and am even glad of certain characters’ defeat or demise. And I am sad when it’s time to bid them all farewell. I was very much looking forward to commencing another Shawn Inmon series. I understand this is a different “genre” and is perhaps not my cup of tea. However the narration is so off putting that I cannot continue to make that distinction for myself. As much as I wanted to experience the complexities of another Inmon plot and discover and get to know these new characters I cannot continue. Walter Mitchell’s ever so sluggish, slurred, annoying, and literally shouting portrayal of characters has rendered this novel impossible to listen to. This narrator is on my “never again” list.

Historia
It has been more than a year since society fell. The population has dwindled as a second winter has come and gone. The roaming gangs are now dug in and fortified or have died of starvation or violence. The safest place to be is inside Altor, the domed city that stands like a jewel in the Nevada desert. But it is not paradise inside the dome either. Janus, the nearly all-powerful Artificial Intelligence, is taking over. Can a few brilliant humans stand in the way of the most powerful program ever created, or will it foil their every move before they make it?

Love this series
Revisado: 01-25-24
Yet again a story so believable although entirely sci fi fictional. The characters are authentic and dare I say…. real. As with all (that I have read) Shawn Inmon’s books the story is mesmerizing and engaging. I am always a little sad sad when the story, and series, come to an end. I say goodbye to my fictional friends until we meet again either in a reread or a surprising pop up in a new story.

Very captivating. Well developed. Relatable. Vulnerable and even heart breaking.
Revisado: 01-10-24
I have listened to the Middle Falls Time Travel books from the first book and all others leading up to this story. The possibilities lurking Shawn Inmon’s imagination is limitless. Each book is different from the other books and each is just as captivating as the first. I love how the characters are complex and vulnerable and unique and fitting to their story. And I love love that various characters from other books show up in different books without stealing the show. I have yet to tire of this series. And am looking forward to the next one in the series .

Historia
Sometimes the worst storms aren't from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren't the ones in our heads. Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world's news networks. As both the real world and the cyber world come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".

Set in a time of our history when relationships and society’s accepted perceptions were quite different from today does not diminish the charm and sweetness and innocence of this story. Nick Offerman’s performance was stellar. His amusement and joy in reading this story was evident and added to my enjoyment.
