Historia
A movie director is charged with murdering an actress during sex, and then staging her death to make it look like a suicide. In a seemingly unrelated case, a loner is murdered, leaving the sheriff's department with no clues. One unsettling revelation after another leaves a retired FBI agent and an L.A. detective thinking they've unmasked a most frightening killer with almost inconceivable calculation.

Narrator is the worst ever
- De Keith en 11-23-05
Good story, with uneven narration
Revisado: 02-27-25
Interesting story, with some solid evil characters.
However this is less a Bosch novel than anticipated, but still worthwhile.
The narrator did an acceptable job, but not one of the better choices.
His Bosch character sounds like an 85 year old man, and several others have the same voice in the story.
Others do a much better job of differentiating characters, which is a real plus.
Looking forward to Harry’s next outing!

Historia
An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

A great Bosch outing.
Harry’s marriage is faltering, and he pours himself into what he does best; his job.
Enough twists & good characters to keep it cooking along, and very well written,
Performance by Mr Giles is spot-on, once again!
Highly recommended.

Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Below par for Connelly, but okay
Revisado: 10-31-24
Bosch fans will be sorely disappointed at his minor role in this book. Pitiful because his character is so wonderfully fashioned by the author.
Combining two-story lines is nothing new in this genre, but the black Dahlia portion is contrived at best, It relies entirely on coincidences and is well below Connelly's best work. No one is going to buy how the evidence is conveniently dropped into Ms. Bosch's lap because she happened into a mundane situation.
Other than that, the writing is good enough to keep one interested, but not enough to thrill, as his earlier books so wonderfully do.
I was hoping for more, and especially more of Harry Bosch, in a book advertised to be a combination of our favorite hero & heroine....
Should billed as a Maddie Bosch combo, not Harry.

Revisado: 10-15-24
Another solid Harry Bosch outing. With a nice mix of his stepbrother to help out where needed. Deftly handling two cases at once, Harry does a great job of tying up many loose ends and finding answers.
A lot of compassion in this one.

Historia
In Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race, Raoul Duke (Thompson) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (inspired by a friend of Thompson) are quickly diverted to search for the American dream. Their quest is fueled by nearly every drug imaginable and quickly becomes a surreal experience that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. But there is more to this hilarious tale than reckless behavior, for underneath the hallucinogenic facade is a stinging criticism of American greed and consumerism.
