Historia
If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

From the hero whistleblower of the infamous Theranos scam, Thicker than Water is a look at never-before-revealed details behind closed doors at the company, revealing a cautionary tale of corporate bullying, gaslighting, ego, and wealth running amok in Silicon Valley. Tyler Shultz had been in the workforce for less than a year when he emailed Elizabeth Holmes, his employer and the CEO and founder of Theranos, with concerns that the company’s lab practices were faulty, ignored quality control, and were potentially dangerous to patients.

Historia
The Unexpected Spy is the riveting story of Walder's tenure in the CIA and, later, the FBI. In high-security, steel-walled rooms in Virginia, Walder watched al-Qaeda members with drones as President Bush looked over her shoulder and CIA Director George Tenet brought her donuts. She tracked chemical terrorists and searched the world for Weapons of Mass Destruction. She created a chemical terror chart that someone in the White House altered to convey information she did not have or believe, leading to the Iraq invasion.

2/3 Personal, 1/3 Movie Making
Revisado: 10-10-20
I know there is a demographic that buys Vietnam autobiographies and I support anyone that fought for our country, but I bought this to hear about Stone's film career. While about 1/3 of the book is about his experiences making films, a lot of it is about his time in Vietnam and the aftermath of his time there.
Read in Stone's monotone voice, it was okay, but not entertaining for the most part.
Tell your story how you want, but here is the formula for a good memoir/biography: Start out discussing what we know you for (movie making and Hollywood in this instance). Then, if there are times in your life or people that play a part in what we know you for, work those parts of your life into the story.
Anyone who writes a book starting with their grandparents, through to their parents, through to their birth, through their youth, and 6 to 9 hours in finally starts discussing what we know them for, is doing a history report.

Television personality Ross Mathews likes telling stories. He was always outrageous and hilariously honest, even when the biggest celebrity he knew was his favorite lunch lady in the school cafeteria. Now that he has Hollywood experience - from interning behind the scenes at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to judging RuPaul’s Drag Race - he has a lot to talk about. In Name Drop, Ross dishes about being an unlikely insider in the alternate reality that is showbiz.

I loved Man Up, and when I saw Ross Mathews had written another book, I looked forward to it. If Ross could just go ahead and find the time to write 5 of these a year, that would be great.
His stories, his wit, his hilarity are fantastic. If you like hearing about celebrities and do not mind the author doing a great job of entertaining you while sharing their real-life experiences from coast to coast, this book is for you.

Leonardo DiCaprio. Alex Rodriguez. Tobey Maguire. Affleck. Damon. Cassavetes. What do these people have in common? Not just fame and fortune; all these men are also alumni of the ultra-exclusive, high-stakes poker ring that inspired Aaron Sorkin's Oscar-nominated film, Molly's Game. But Houston Curtis, the card shark who co-founded the game with Tobey Maguire, knows that Sorkin's is the whitewashed version. In Billion Dollar Hollywood Heist, Curtis goes all-in, revealing the true story behind the game.

Revisado: 10-10-20
I greatly enjoyed "Molly's Game", the book and the movie, so when I saw that more of the story was available from another perspective, I got it. While it only covers the portion of her story that Houston Curtis was involved in, the early games, it sheds more light on the story,

Historia
Before turning to her life of crime - running a one-woman forgery business out of a phone booth in a Greenwich Village bar and even dodging the FBI - Lee Israel had a legitimate career as an author of biographies. But by 1990, almost broke and desperate to hang onto her Upper West Side studio, Lee made a bold and irreversible career change: inspired by a letter she’d received once from Katharine Hepburn, and armed with her considerable skills as a researcher and celebrity biographer, she began to forge letters in the voices of literary greats.

I learned so much. Curtain the perfect narrator.
Revisado: 05-19-20
I chose to read this after seeing the fantastic movie. This book, while under 3 hours, does a great job of giving more detail about the story told in the movie.
And to have Jane Curtain read it after seeing her tour de force performance as Lee Israel's agent in the movie, it is the perfect companion to the film. I wish there was more!!
For the record, I think, while it may steer its way more into fiction, that it would be great to have Curtain have a film of her own about the agent character. There were so many scenes where we walked in and out on her character in the movie. I would love to see either more of the movie as a whole (all of the characters) or at least Curtain. The character was so richly played that I thought it truly deserved 2 hours of its own. An Oscar wouldn't hurt either.
