Historia
More than four hundred abandoned suitcases filled with patients’ belongings were found when Willard Psychiatric Center closed in 1995 after 125 years of operation. They are skillfully examined here and compared to the written record to create a moving—and devastating—group portrait of twentieth-century American psychiatric care.

Important story. Horrible narration!
Revisado: 07-10-24
This is a very interesting book, however the narration sounds like a computerized voice. Terrible. Ruins it for me.

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

Good enough storyline
Revisado: 01-31-23
While the story was not bad, the chapters of Alice were like nails on a chalkboard! I listen as I dose off to sleep, but the Alice voice would shock me wide awake! The voice was grating and the character was annoying
