I feel Clarke has detailed the 82 Presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy. although the outcome was not a surprise, his humanitarian ism answer wisdom for humanity that he possessed shine through. I keep wondering: "Will we have another person run for easy political office who is as op Ryu idiotic about Domestic affairs as Kennedy was during 1968?" only time shall tell.

Would you listen to Twenty-Six Seconds again? Why?

Yes I would, because there is so much information both technical about the regular 8mm filming, as her Grandfather's camera was designed to work, and then there is the family history side which involves how her father, Henry, handled requests for copies of the film while keeping up his own tax law office in Dallas. There is the story of how the government handled the two copies of the film and how LIFE magazine's editor Richard Stolley obtained rights to print frames of the film by treatment Mr. Zapruder with the greatest respect. There is the story of how the National Archives obtained the original Zapruder camera and used it for analysis for the Warren Commission. Then finally there is the story of how the film was given back to the family for $16 million in the late 1990's and how they decided to hand the copyright back into the hands of the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.

There is so much information, well researched and documented by Alexandra, that this book should serve researchers well into the 22nd century and beyond.

What other book might you compare Twenty-Six Seconds to and why?

I can't think of any so well researched, except for Vincent Bugliosi's "Reclaiming History" which he researched for twenty years before publishing ten years before his death in 2007.

What does Alexandra Zapruder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her raw emotion of her voice, her engagement of relating her memories of her Grandfather and family members.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but it ran very long. It took about three days with life's responsibilities to be carried out.

handled with loving truth

ms. stockett book recreates the 1960's segregation of Jackson Mississippi's hired black house help. incredibly poignant. Beautifully told without being overly sappy or stereotypical of either race. some whites are represented as far more hateful than others, for example.

The most misunderstood woman and her misunderstood death are retold factually with carefyl research by Spoto.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Joe DiMaggio.

What does Anna Fields bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I sense of how women sounded at the time Marilyn was alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES!

The Authors Have Certainly Outdone Themselves

this was an awesome book. I met Mr Hill in Dallas in May of 2016 and he signed what was an extremely thick, compared to his two previous books with Lisa Mccubbin.

the narration of of the book was fantastic. It did not seem overly brought upon. it was just right for the book.

My favorite stories, we're those concerning President Lyndon Johnson. they were honest about the man, and colorful. deciding to travel to London suddenly when you are in the air and change everyone's plans is interesting. But the touching last meeting Mr. Hill has in the Executive Residence of the White House showed who the real Lyndon Johnson really was.

This volume gives us a close picture of these men Mr. Hill watched over.

Clint Hlll Captures Mrs Kennedy at Her Most Human

Would you listen to Mrs. Kennedy and Me again? Why?

I would listen again. I loved hearing the adventure in the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mrs. Kennedy and Me?

One of the memorable moments was when Mr. Hill and Mrs. Kennedy run into each other on the Christina and she is dressed very casually. It seems unusal.

Which scene was your favorite?

Mu favorite scene was when Mr Hill watches television when Mrs. Kennedy (Onassis) dies of cancer. He thinks back to all of the years he smoked a lot and drank heavily after Presiident Kennedy died. He calls them "wasted years". Now he faces his loss of Mrs Kennedy and he cries without shame,

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Mr Hill learn that baby Patrick has died. He wants to breakdown, but he cannot.

it took a total of two weeks to finish, as I, like most people have errands and like to live, but I relished in my alone time with this magical author:s most unhorrifying stort of humanity, which any of us can relate to if we read the book, or in thiase, listen to thevwhole story play out.

i know a woman who wasbstanding across the street, with her close ftiend, from Bill and Gayle Newman and their baby boys on that afternoon. her name is amary Ann. her polaroid is now famous, but she's become famous in her own right giving interviews to people such as Mayt Laurr, which aired just before 11/22/2013. she believes Providence put her in the exact spot wherevshe was. as fas as Obbelieve, tje past is prologue. it is what makes everything the way we know it to be.

i love this book, because it combines my love of early 1960's America, which as a kid born in January of 1980, had no grasp of the trust complete strangers have for one another in today's society. King helped me, through his story telling to understand how it was. a novel so worth this listening expreience.

This Book Needs To Be Re-Recorded By Someone Else

What disappointed you about The Big Book and a Study Guide of the 12 Steps of AA?

The text of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous in print is, in itself, not disappointing in any way. Written and edited by AA co-founder Bill W. and published in 1939, it is a hope-filled volume for all addicts, no matter their drug of choice. What disappoints me about this audible version of the Fourth Edition, of the Big Book, published in 2001, is that the narrator stammers, struggles and delivers the worst performance I have ever had to suffer through. I have ADHD, and while I take medication that makes everyday focus very easy, reading is still nearly impossible. I rely on audible to usually entertain, but in this case inspire and educate me. This is the worst performance I have ever heard. It was painful to listen to, and I was wishing I could focus enough to read the book.

What other book might you compare The Big Book and a Study Guide of the 12 Steps of AA to and why?

There is no comparison. Although I would encourage Audible to make available other 12 Step Fellowship texts available, those of Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Sexaholics Anonymous, and CODA would benefit many, many people.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

How do I explain this? His deivery was so chopped up, I couldn't focus on the message Bill W. and the messages that the friends of Bill W. intended to convey in their stories in the back of the book. The book simply needs to be re-recorded.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

The narration of this book is a great disservice to those addicts who cannot read, or those. like myself, who cannot read because of ADHD.

I appeal to Audible to consider having this volume re-recorded. How much does it cost to have someone record it? I have experience with voiceovers. I am willing to do it!

Nancy Reagan As Remembered By Her Trusted Friend

What made the experience of listening to Nancy the most enjoyable?

What made this listening experience the most enjoyable was hearing a realistic and positive account of a topic that I have a strong interest in: An American First Lady. Hearing the voice of the late Mike Deaver, the author, and man who knew Nancy Reagan best, recount his relationship with her made it even more special. Mike had a voice that was natural for narration, and he didn't hold back in his emotion through certain passages.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nancy?

Mike's story begins with having been appointed to Assistant Chief of Staff to newly inaugurated California Governor Ronald Reagan in 1967. Deaver had an apprehension of the new First Lady, Nancy Reagan, only having heard the worst about her from campaign staffers. Receiving a phone call a from her early in the term during the first months of Reagan's new term, asking if she could get Governor Reagan to get away with her for a short week-long vacation, Deaver simply told her that it was probably a bad idea to take the Governor away that early in the administration, and that it might just look bad for him. Mrs. Reagan simply agreed, saying she hadn't realized that. Deaver realized that she was simply a straightforward woman and that was the best way to deal with her.I found the way Mike found to best describe Ronnie's love of his own 688-acre Santa Barbara County, California ranch, Rancho del Cielo, by quoting: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.", to be simple and powerful. This passage is verse 1 of Psalm 121 in the Old Testament of the Bible. I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Lakewood, Colorado, where I have spectacular views of big "hills." Since hearing Mike's words regarding Reagan's adoration of his ranch, I have adopted this verse as an inspirational devotion and reminder of God's strength, which he supplies me with at times when I don't have any- which is all the time. If a book gives you hope and inspiration like this as a by product, then it is something special. For me, "Nancy" is such a book.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Mike was able to comfort Nancy upon her arrival the Emergency Room entrance of George Washington University Hospital in the early afternoon on March 30, 1981. After a luncheon speech appearance at the Washington Hilton Hotel, President Reagan was exiting the hotel and just before the entered his car, the sound of six gunshots popped out of the crowd to his left. He was hit by a bullet, which exited his would-be assassin's gun and then bounced off of his limousine's body. It entered his chest just under his left arm pit, went through his left lung, and stopped an inch from his heart. Three other people, a Washington, D.C. Policeman, a Secret Service Agent, and President Reagan's Press Secretary James Brady had also been hit by stray bullets. With the presidential limousine in movement, the President complained that he was having chest pain and gave his Secret Service agent, Jerry Paar, a hard time for what he thought was Jerry having cracked at least one of his ribs by jumping onto him and pushing him into the limousine at the time the shots rang out. The limousine was headed to the White House, but Paar noticed frothing blood at the corner of the President's mouth, thinking the President's lung was punctured from the rib that was broken, Paar directed the driver to divert to George Washington University Hospital's Emergency Room. The split-second decision saved Reagan's life.

Mrs. Reagan had been at the White House when the shooting happened, and her Secret Service Agent in Charge, George Umpher, went to her in the third floor Solarium, where she was meeting with her interior decorator. Umpher calmly told her that the shooting had happened, and that the President had not been hit, but was was at the hospital Emergency Room. Nancy immediately started for the residence elevator and told Umpher to get a car ready for her. He continued repeating that the President was fine and that there was no reason for her to leave the White House, but Mrs. Reagan told him to get her a car, or she was going to walk to the hospital. The car was readied and Mrs Reagan headed into D.C. traffic toward the hospital, unaccompanied by a Secret Service lead or follow up car, or even a police escort. While she waited in grid locked traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue in her car, Mrs. Reagan anxiously considered getting out and running the rest of the way to the hospital. Suddenly the grid-lock broke and her car took off. When she arrived at the Emergency Room entrance, local news station cameras caught her anxious arrival. Mike Deaver greeted her inside and minced no words, saying, "Nancy, he's been hit."She was clearly upset, as she'd been told otherwise.

Following is an account of her interaction with her husband, who had lost so much blood, he was white.It was an emotional passage, which clearly conveyed that Nancy Reagan was not an the media dubbed "Ice Queen" or a narcissist. She loved her Ronnie and was scared that she was going to lose him. Later, in fact, she said she almost did.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. I listened to it as much as I could. I showed up to a doctor's appointment an hour and fifteen minutes early because I was caught up with chores at home, and I knew I had a good book to listen to. Usually I hate waiting at places, but I am without my own car right now, and I am having to use Uber to get around the Denver, Colorado Metro area, I figured I'd make the best of a long wait, and just sit, educate, and enjoy myself. It was so worth it! I loved the book!

I am thankful to Audible, because now I can enjoy books once again! My ADHD has gotten worse with life, and while medication has helped with daily activities, keeping me on task, reading is still tough. I am really happy with this product!
