I slept with my trainer. And as it turns out, I’m not the only one. Apparently, he sleeps with all his clients. So I block him—the last thing I need is another a-hole in my life. Especially one as irresistibly charming and handsome as Ashton Vancroft. The catch? Three years later, our best friends, Emma and Marcus, get engaged, and we are both forced to play nice at their destination wedding in Florida. Is he really the self-centered playboy I’ve made him out to be? Or is there something more to this fitness-obsessed now-billionaire that I missed the first time around?

The comedic writing!
Revisado: 03-25-25
I had the stars on my side as I read Ryan and Erin's story first. I couldn't wait to hear Ashton's! The first book was longer and more detailed, but for me, this took absolutely nothing away from "Fit for Love." The jungle trip was hysterical! I was in the grocery store laughing out loud, looking as if I had dementia (I'm over 60, no offense to anyone). I look for books that take me away from my often depressed reality, and I need to read more of this author's books. The first book allowed me to go away from the pain of assisting my children in burying their dad after his murder. The second helps me, along with other books similar to this duet, in having to deal with a life filled with angst and pain. Audible has been a lifesaver since a disease impaired my vision and stole my only ability to escape as I did when I was a child of extreme poverty and my mom would somehow get old books. Barbara Cartland allowed me to go away. Back to this book, 4 stars for the narrators, 5 for the comedy, 10 for the duet. Have to go; my vision is blurred, and I'll soon suffer for this review. Worth it!

Lilli is awkward, unrefined, and not at all cut out to be a spy - or the lover of a smoking hot Japanese billionaire. But then - WTH! - she does get the job. Soon her arrangement with Norio goes from a role she must play, to a passionate, barely contained affair. Lilli knows there’s no way her clandestine relationship with Norio will end in unicorns and rainbows.

Great Storyline
Revisado: 02-19-25
It's nice to see black women as love interest of other races of men. Usually it's a white woman with blonde hair and alabaster skin, or white women with flaming red hair and sea green eyes that dominate most love interest for men of all races. I'm SO glad we're now getting women of color that are portrayed as beautiful and sexy. I also love the phat (pretty, hot, and tempting) portrayed as beautiful sexual desirable too! The AMBW was great in this book. I plan to read ALL of Ms. T. Taylor's books! The narrators were awesome! I hate, hate, hate when black authors become obsessed with naming expensive cars, clothes, jewelry etc. as if most blacks live in that world. What happened to the middle class or poor that fall in love and make it work? I have good friends in these situations and we're not rich or have hourglass figures! I do have a question though, do white people lips really swell after kissing? That seems to happen in every book I've read lately, just asking not trying to be insulting or offend anyone.

He was the talented bad boy everyone wanted. I was the irrelevant geek everyone hated. He was the sun...drawing all of us in. I was a black hole...taking up space. He was destined to be a star. I was destined to remain an insignificant no one. Until he made me believe I was special...and then he destroyed me. I never thought I'd see Phoenix Walker again after he broke my heart, but fate had other plans. One tour. Eight weeks. Forty shows. Countless opportunities to make him pay. The world thought he was a god...but I know the truth.

The crush she had in the beginning of the book!
Revisado: 08-09-24
OMG! I read this book in one day, it was so good! I love the beginning because the crush she had on Phoenix started it all. Her angst over unrequited love had her writing the lyrics it only took her having to tutor him and becoming his friend also that got the whole ball rolling. They both had issues hers were in the open, his, not where others could see but she did and her belief and love for him made him while destroying her. The drive and anger to get away from Hillcrest plus music being his true love and savior caused him to do the unforgivable. Many of us in life do this and can't find our way to back be it pride, depression, or substance abuse it stops our happy ending. Lennon didn't have all the tools, and Phoenix had none to build the foundation we all need to navigate life. This story was beautifully written and thank God the right narrator's were chosen to make this book an unforgettable story. The small amount of lyrics that were stated in the hit song were on point. I felt them rip through me. I can only imagine what they felt like when Sharp Objects would sing them in concert! We all are cut and left to bleed out in life, many of us can't stop the flow we bleed out quickly, and for many of us it's a slow trickle that hurts til death. I'm glad Phoenix and Lennon stopped their slow bleed and got the happy ending we all deserve. I love books that have deep raw emotions and real issues yet end happily. They take me away from reality and my not so happy ending without reading like a fairytale, teenage love or worst of all soft porn with no substance. The sex scenes were explicit and may be too often for some but it was the perfect amount considering the story revolved around a rock band. I pray my next book is equally enjoyable, it's rare though. It's definitely in my top ten!!!!!

When my husband died, he left my broken heart behind. He left another heart behind, too - his.
I know it's wrong. I shouldn't be contacting the recipient of my husband's heart. I don't even expect him to reply.... But there's a desperate, twisted part of me that hopes he will. No names. No personal details. Just a conversation. The only thing I have left of my husband is inside him.

ANOTHER AMAZING READ!!!
Revisado: 07-03-24
Jennifer Hartman has become a reliable author you can count on to give you a superior story. It's not always you can say that about an author! I HATE to use a credit or my money only to discover the narrator massacred the telling of the story or the story itself was so so or just plain awful. I LOVE happy endings because my life is hard, EVERYDAY! So I crave HEA. Ms. Hartman has a way of writing that is visceral! I've only read two books so far but both have had me from the first sentence. I can count on Nora Roberts, now Ms. Hartman to deliver what I need everytime. The sex scenes were not over the top and fit the story. If you go without sex for YEARS going at it like rabbits, especially if it's great sex is natural, I know, so for me it fit the storyline. I bow to the Queen, you Ms. Hartman.

Historia
Want to know what happens to a man who barely claws his way out of a tragedy, only to fall right into the arms of the one girl in the world he can never have? Another tragedy, that's what. When I was six years old, my father made a choice that altered the course of my entire life. Because of what he did, the only girl I ever loved became the only girl I couldn’t have. In a lot of ways, I did have her; I had her first steps, her first words, her first smile. I had her milestones, her heartbreaks, her dreams.

SECOND MOST WONDERFUL BOOK OF MY LIFE!!!!!
Revisado: 06-27-24
If you're looking for a book that is relatable to real life this is it! No one has a ton of money, no one is drop dead gorgeous, (Brandt feels June is, but it is his POV), you know, lol, the typical love stories. It's real life for most of us, filled with angst, misunderstanding, having to come to terms with loss, devastation, and things we can't control. I personally loved the book starting out through the eyes of children, it made you understand why Brandt felt so guilty and refused to call Samantha and Andrew mom and dad or accept others saying June and Theo were his brother and sister. It's a very deep and emotional story that you could not foreshadow. The narrators were GREAT! Some narrators have made me return books, especially books by black authors, sorry, and yes I am black. I prefer a man to speak the male parts and a female to speak the female parts. I hate when a male narrator speaks his part, then he speaks the female part, and vice versa, when they have BOTH male and female narrators! I guess this is done to allow both narrators to perform their parts at their own pace, yet this can become very confusing because not every narrator can pull this off! I love to get totally lost in a story. I love for it to take me totally out of my world. I loved the angst and confliction, my stomach was literally tied in knots at times! I also love the way Brandt would stop at times and talk to the reader. The plot was wonderful! The narrators were great! It was an unusual love story, the sex was not over the top, with every sex scene described in porn detail! Love, love, love epilogues! Spoiler alert, the ending was funny and full of love. This book will go in my read again collection.

Wonderful reading!
Revisado: 07-14-23
This is the first book of the series, and what awesome book. I plan to read the entire series due to my great experience with the first book. The narration was spot on. I love when I cannot foreshadow book and this was achieved in superior fashion. My first book by Courtney Milan did not disappoint. The correct amount of substance, with a dash of suspense, some lovemaking without it becoming erotica was perfect. Last but not least my HEA ended the book which is exactly what I need to take me away from the trauma filled, superficial, social network filled world we are forced to live in today.

Wonderful series!!!
Revisado: 02-09-23
Great series! All of the characters are very well thought out, the plots in each book contains many of the same team yet the storylines are all different and interesting enough for me to almost miss appointments, lol. I enjoy the fact that the love story, emphasis on love, is drawn out but not so slow paced as not to get frustrated or lose interest. These books are something hard to find since great emphasis is now based on the sex scenes in love stories now days that it gets a bit too much. Some things are best left to the readers imagination. Ms. Quinn knows how to keep your interest and start the books with intrigue and action then keep it with a good plot. The other characters such as Gater, Deep, Jax, etc. on the team are funny, and loyal yet well trained in their art and combat skills. I hate that the next book is the last in this series but discovered a series doing just what I wanted, telling the stories of the other men on Strikers team. I'm glad I was introduced to Spider finally!!! He is awesome. Ms. Quinn keep up the good work and continue to write wonderful romance/action, and contemporary stories that do not fall prey to the erotic sex scenes I am forced to suffer through in otherwise good books, not all of us out here feels for a love story to be good we have to be a part of their sexual escapades too! I rarely write reviews but had to with this series. You're GREAT!!!

He was gorgeous, older and guarded. I knew he was trouble from the moment we locked eyes. We met at work, on my first day as a barista. He smiled, I melted...then he tasted my coffee and threw it away. Again, the next day, and the next. He hated the coffee, yet still came back. I knew his game. He called my coffee death in a cup. I called him god’s gift to women. I wasn’t lying.

Not for me! BDSM, not romance.
Revisado: 10-11-22
I NEVER write reviews but this book went a little to far for me. I see from the reviews many enjoyed the "erotica" if you deem to call it that. The female lead was strong but there was not much character development going into the relationship with the male lead. I enjoyed the other two books in this series and was glad to see it was an extension from the Miles brothers books, which I loved!!!! The Takeover and Tristan being the best! The sex scenes bordered on abuse both mental and physical. "Spoiler alert".............. telling a woman to get on her knees and suck your cock repeatedly in this book was not "steamy" or "hot" to me. A woman who hates her dorm room decides to become a "call girl" to get an apartment. Remind you she's in college to become a lawyer so she's not dumb! She is described as morally conscience enough to appreciate that a well dressed, obviously well-off man stops and gives money, and speaks kindly to a begger on the street yet quickly jumps at a chance to go "bartender" at a gentlemen's club only to be so beautiful they make her the lead girl on her first night in a exclusive spot that many other beautiful women work. Then on her first day she drops to her knees after being talked to in a degrading manner, told any wet pussy will do, then told to get on her knees and suck his cock after he unzips his pants and actually performs oral sex on a man because he's "so extraordinarly hot" is nonsense!!! The forceful hair pulling, the demeaning way the female lead is often talked to and "loves" or "causes her panties to become soaked" is not remotely erotica. I do understand there are those of us who experiment, try new things, and don't mind a slap on the ass during sex but not enough to cause pain! I'm with the other reviewer, sex should never involve pain! If both partners are S&M okay, but that's where I draw the line. I don't like men sticking 3 or 4 fingers in me (short and clean nails is a must if this is done, nails cans hurt and open the skin and dirty nails can cause infections) so hearing this repeatedly was gross for me. Anal sex is painful especially if not performed by someone who cares for you I'm glad this was introduced at the end of the book. I believe these books are read by adults who know this is fiction, but I worry that some young teens have access to these books that throw love into the mix and can make some young ladies that are experiencing sexual abuse from someone they love but that love is not reciprocated. The depictions in this book makes it seems these acts are okay and you can "fix" this broken man unlike his first wife who was "vanilla"!! Woman have been fighting this battle for years! You can fix a broken man if you love him enough! You can't "fix" someone who has trust issues, not with all the love in the world! It can sometimes be detrimental and cause harm. It can also be misleading by giving a person hope and reinforcing the rationale to stay in a relationship that is toxic. Would a man be okay with a woman who got pleasure from biting his penis repeatedly until it "hurt so good"? Just my opinion. Some people enjoy these types of sex scenes but for me it just went a bit too far in this book.

EXCEPTIONAL AUTHOR AND BOOK
Revisado: 06-10-22
I first read "The ugly and wonderful things" by this author. I read it four times in a row it was so good! This book was just as good as the first one. The Will was just as good. Ms. Bryan is an author that gives depth to her characters in way so many others failed. I cannot scream loudly enough about how exhausted I am with reading a good book while being forced to the phrases such as "her beautiful toned alabaster/porcelain skin (I'm black) ,long silky, shining, wavy hair that smells of morning dew, etc. I could start projectile vomiting!! I don't see these male Denzel Washington's in my day to day encounters. My so wonderful Ms. Bryan descriptions of her characters have the human flaws the flaws we all have this makes her books not only more interesting but able to connect with more. Stretch marks and skin fat above and below the bra line are something beautiful to the main male character while he looks at the woman he loves, that's writing. Her plots cannot be foreshadowed and the characters are deeply fleshed out, not the scenery! I now will go on to read her next book in one day. She keeps me enthralled in a world of chaos and madness. I can get away. I only need more happy endings to her books before I wake back up to my real world. Ms. Brynn is a must read author!

OMG!!!!! LOVED IT!!!!
Revisado: 04-05-22
Thornos and Lante's story is one of the best ever. Its funny and romantic. I have listened to this one repeatedly. I enjoyed Sabine and Rysrom's not knowing Sabine's sister story would be even better! Thorns with his "I don't understand that either" to Lanthe had me laughing each time he said it! The narrator was superb as usual. The storyline was never boring and I liked how it tied to Lothaire and the Dacian's story. Lanthe showed her comedic and heartfelt side While Thornos never gave up. I love how he didn't have this perfect body or tortured past yet he was sexy as ever. Lanthe explaining the difference between having sex and making love to Thornos was awesome. Nix was funny as ever in every part she played in this storyline, can't wait to hear her story. I read this story anytime I'm sad cause it takes me away to another world that's funny, romantic, adventurous, and full of wisdom! PLEASE PLEASE keep writing stories along this storyline where everyone doesn't have a perfect body or horrific past yet learns and loves despite it all.
