Historia
We Band of Angelsis the story of women searching for adventure, caught up in the drama and danger of war. On the same day the Japanese Imperial Navy launched its surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, it also struck American bases in the Far East, chief among them the Philippines. That raid led to the first major land battle for America in World War II and, in the end, to the largest defeat and surrender of American forces.

Dreadful
Revisado: 12-24-17
This is like a Cliff Notes version of the biographies of George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and other books from audible.
This seems to be a freshman’s book report. The facts are covered in greater detail elsewhere.
The book jumps all over the place.
The most annoying thing is the reading of the footnotes that totally destroys the story flow and again seems to be a freshman high schoolers attempt to validate their research.
I doubt there was any true scholarly research but just the cut and paste if others book’s in this muddle of a book.
Final nail in the coffin was the horrible voice of the narrator
Bill may have been entertaining with his sharp and condensed dialogue on TV but for whatever real effort in put in this book, if any, it is an epic fail.
I am not sure I will complete this book as I was so disappointed I could nit wait to suffer through this book without stopping to write this review.
I believe I have a few of his other books but if this is an example, it is too bad I can not get a refund.
Fans of Bill may be taken aback. I really enjoyed his TV show before it got yanked. I was hoping this would be at the same level.
This book sucks.

Historia
The Last Stand of Fox Company is a fast-paced and gripping account of heroism and self-sacrifice in the face of impossible odds. The authors have conducted dozens of firsthand interviews with the battle's survivors, and they narrate the story with the immediacy of such classic accounts of single battles as Guadalcanal Diary, Pork Chop Hill, and Black Hawk Down.

Stunning & Compelling!
Revisado: 04-05-17
I grew up in the same apartment building as the Bonelli's and Farmers. I had an idea they were vets but I never heard them speak of their experiences in Korea during the war.
Just like the generation before, they had a clear job and mission, did it, then moved on with their life.
The detail of the combat and everything around what they did is just a testament to these brave men.
I could not stop listening to the book.
One of the best books, ever!

Historia
From the Bowery Boys and the Five Points Gang through the rise of the Jewish "Kosher Nostra" and the ascendance of the Italian Mafia, mobsters have played a major role in the city's history, lurking just around the corner or inside that nondescript building. Bill "the Butcher" Poole, Paul Kelly, Monk Eastman, "Lucky" Luciano, Carlo Gambino, Meyer Lansky, Mickey Spillane, John Gotti - each held sway over New York neighborhoods that nurtured them and gave them power.

Interesting but just fair
Revisado: 01-02-17
A Wiki-like condensed history. Some interesting tid-bits but the the narrator must be on a double expresso shot. Kind of breathless narrative. Too fast to savor and in a rush to cram in 100+ year history of the 'mob'

Historia
No One Would Listen is the exclusive story of the Harry Markopolos-lead investigation into Bernie Madoff and his $65 billion Ponzi scheme. While a lot has been written about Madoff's scam, few actually know how Markopolos and his team - affectionately called "the Fox Hounds" by Markopolos himself - uncovered what Madoff was doing years before this financial disaster reached its pinnacle. Unfortunately, no one listened, until the damage of the world's largest financial fraud ever was irreversible.

Revisado: 09-24-14
Would you try another book from Harry Markopolos and/or the narrators?
the narrator, yes! Harry, No!
Has No One Would Listen turned you off from other books in this genre?
thankfully not too many like this book
Do you think No One Would Listen needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
OMG spare me from this nerd who self-proclaims how he saved the world
Any additional comments?
i do not work on Wall Street nor in any stock/bond/mutual fund whatever business. There were isolated humorous parts but weighed down by his pedantic , monotonous, self-pro motion of him saving the world. You can tell in certain areas how he rails against big business, the government and other boggiemen as he sees it. He is his own Don Quixote. You can cut this book in half and get the just of his investigative prowess as he sees it. Wait for the book to drop further in price before you buy it.

Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Significant on many levels!
Revisado: 07-20-14
Would you listen to The Boys in the Boat again? Why?
Again & Again!
What other book might you compare The Boys in the Boat to and why?
It stands alone
What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
History perhaps forgotten but thankfully now remembered for new generations
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The entire book has points about what truly made the coming of the "Greatest Generation"
Any additional comments?
I hope the upcoming movie can match the nuance and detail of the book. The obstacles each member of the team worked through to achieve the success in the 1936 Olympics may be even more significant than their winning the gold in the rowing event.
A book to be cherished. A story to inspire. A group of youths that gave all as a team. A wonderful story and superb narration.
