Historia
The beloved King Ik is dead, and there was barely time to check his pulse before the royal throne was supporting the suspiciously shapely backside of an impostor pretending to be Ik's beautiful, long-lost daughter. With the land's heroic hunks busy drooling all over themselves, there's only one man left who can save the kingdom of Jenair. His name is Dungar Loloth, a rural blacksmith turned innkeeper, a surly hermit, and an all-around nobody oozing toward middle age, compensating for a lack of height, looks, charm, and tact with guts and an attitude.

Historia
Ten-year-old Nem has just witnessed her mother's brutal murder and her life appears destined for tragedy. Until, that is, she finds her mother‘s old green journal which holds an incredible secret. This innocent looking book seems to contain the power over luck. As she uses it, Nem discovers the diary keeps a strange kind of karmic balance, that in gifting someone good fortune she must steal another's first. All it takes is a simple entry. There's dangers though, and not just for others but also for Nem.

Two unlikable characters
Revisado: 03-19-21
I considered giving up on this book multiple times. I just can't enjoy a book without likable characters. The ending was, thankfully, the best part of the book. But not worth sitting through the rest to get there.

Fun adventure
Revisado: 12-21-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this! You don't often meet such clearly introverted main characters in these kinds of books. Perhaps a bit heavy on the details, but an interesting concept and many fun little quotes. Not thrilled with the narration.

Entertaining
Revisado: 10-29-19
My mind is always wandering and I sometimes struggle to get into a new audiobook (even good ones), which makes it extra enjoyable with those books that catch my attention right away. I was lucky enough to receive a free copy of this book audiobook and it was a perfect pre-Halloween listen. I would have enjoyed this even more if you got to know the characters a bit more.

good ideas
Revisado: 10-21-19
I was lucky enough to get a free copy of this audiobook. I enjoyed the concept but didn't quite get sucked into the action for some reason, a bit hard connecting with the characters. I like the attempt at a "science" behind what's going on. I'm likely to give the next book in the series a go to see if it's one of those great series with a slow-ish start.

A bit confusing
Revisado: 05-25-19
The narration ruins this book for me. It sounds "boxy" and the voice doesn't work for me either. Everything seems whiny. I do think the male main character could have benefited from being read by a male voice, perhaps? I did not fully understand the universe the story was set in. I'm not sure if it is intended as fantasy or just a very unrealistic "real life". It is generally entertaining and is written in a very descriptive language. I do fear my dislike of the narration ruined the story a bit for me, perhaps I will try it in its written form later. I was given a copy of the audiobook by the narrator for an honest review (and I do feel a little bad for not adding more stars, but 3 stars = "pretty good" which is my opinion).

Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Painful...
Revisado: 12-20-17
This book has no female characters of any depth. This book is mostly about the main character thinking highly about himself and his conquests. The universe and backstory he creates actually had potential but this is just sad. I listen to hundreds of hours of audio books each year, of varying quality, and I have never encountered or at least never noticed such extreme stereotypes before. Really painful to listen to.

Historia
The Profiler's Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner. Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston's oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate.

Entertaining enough
Revisado: 05-08-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The Profiler's Daughter to be better than the print version?
Not likely, the reader's voices were a bit annoying.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Her obsession with babies were a bit annoying (and made the ending all the more predictable)
What aspect of Gabrielle de Cuir’s performance would you have changed?
Her voices were a bit too silly, they felt like voices rather than just the characters in the book (you tended to actively notice the different ways she spoke)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nope
