Great but...
Revisado: 03-24-23
I loved Joe's part of the story, very solid and entertaining. What I didn't like was how they added a bunch of short stories by other people at the end. It was a little too much and felt like they were just padding the book.

Historia
Everyone knows that baseball is a game of intricate regulations, but it turns out to be even more complicated than we realize. What truly governs the Major League game is a set of unwritten rules, some of which are openly discussed (don’t steal a base with a big lead late in the game), and some of which only a minority of players are even aware of (don’t cross between the catcher and the pitcher on the way to the batter’s box).

Fun stories
Revisado: 10-15-21
A nice collection of stories. Even if you know some of them, this book goes in a little deeper on them so it's nice to get a fuller perspective. Worth your time to listen to.

Honest and open
Revisado: 09-28-21
Some tough chapters at times. Not because they were poorly written in any way just his life. You can really feel the emotions whether they are good or bad. Overall a pretty good view inside the life of a MiLB player.

Historia
Dodger Stadium is an American icon. But the story of how it came to be goes far beyond baseball. The hills that cradle the stadium were once home to three vibrant Mexican American communities. In the early 1950s, those communities were condemned to make way for a utopian public housing project. Then, in a remarkable turn, public housing in the city was defeated amidst a Red Scare conspiracy.

The Dodgers and Chavez Ravine. Enlightening.
Revisado: 03-23-21
An honest look at the events that transpired that led to the building of Dodgers Stadium and how it affected the families who lived in the area and how they were treated. In depth and well written. The only problem I had was with the narrator. He simply mispronounced many names because he was putting a Spanish accent to some names and words that simply were not meant to be pronounced as such.

This is more than just an audiobook. It's an attitude. It's a mentality. It's a lifestyle. The F*It List is my journey, my life, my lessons, my successes, and my many failures...in my own words. The F*It List forces action. It promotes energy and gives life. It allows you to stand up for what you believe but also helps give perspective on external situations and opinions outside of your control. It's not always comfortable, and in many instances, it is downright scary. Yet, instead of searching for the meaning of life, you will be authentically living it.

This came off like a Tony Robbins seminar and Byrnes just wanted to say "F*ck" a million times.
I'm at 20+ chapters in and Brynes just confirms he's a spoiled rotten jerk. He tries to say the right things but this book is just a waste.

Historia
In 2007, pitcher Barry Zito signed a seven-year, $126 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. At that time, it was the largest contract ever given to a pitcher. He was at the top of his game, in peak physical condition, and had the kind of financial security most people can only dream of. He was also miserable. And it began to show. Zito's career declined over the next few years until he hit rock bottom - watching from the bench as his team won the World Series in 2010. In Curveball, Zito shares his story with honesty and transparency.

Historia
Most people who resist logical thought in baseball preach "tradition" and "respecting the game". But many of baseball's traditions go back to the 19th century, when the pitcher's job was to provide the batter with a ball he could hit and fielders played without gloves. Instead of fearing change, Brian Kenny wants fans to think critically, reject outmoded groupthink, and embrace the changes that have come with the "sabermetric era".
