I wish there were more Jackman & Evans novel series out there and Richard was on Joy's retainer. They are awesome tales and he has really developed the team character's adding an investment level for the listener . Smart, cunning & twisted I can't get enough.

This was my first Lauren Blakely experience. I did not even know the that the genre was romance related when I bought in on the pre-buy for the book!

These are not my normal sought out reads or audible moments. However, I am a fan of Richard Armitage's narration style and jumped on board because he was part of the project. Chances are, if he is reading I will want to know more about his project and why he wanted to tackle it. Yes, he is that good.

Even if the content was a surprise this time, it was really good story that had solid legs. It had a lot of historical with factual items within the contents of the "heat" between the two characters. This held my interest more than just a classic Danielle Steel rip of your clothes and here it is style. It was smart and I wanted to know what other delightful things about Paris and life in general these two characters Griffin and Joy were going to teach each other. Love was the icing on the cake for this audible journey and the steamy scenes...ice cream on top with sprinkles! Richard and Grace did a great job story telling.

I enjoyed this audible very much. The pace and tempo were good and additional background information on Fitzwilliam Darcy's family tree his parents' love story and the tie ins to Fitzwilliam's and DeBerg's houses, made it pleasurable. I found myself returning to this light little story more than once since I added it to my library.

I really liked this adaptation of the Scottish play. Alan Cumming did a clear and admirable job in narration and took us along seamlessly with interwoven skill. Writer's Hartley and Hewson did nice turn for the old cautionary tale.

The story is really affecting, especially as a woman and given the truth of such people as the gardener that exist today. I believe that is what makes it so haunting that you know there could be human beings being treated that way at this very moment kept as twisted possessions and playthings. The narration really added to the story telling in this horrifying tale of serial killer and his family dynamic.

My final thoughts on this book are, the residue of the story creeps into your skin like the tattoo's ink on the gardener's butterflies. It is rather unnerving the author put you right in the seat next to the detectives and let us squirm.

This work always chills me to the bone. I guess it is because we see the mentality and the outcome of keeping others ignorant and oppressed even today all over the world. Manipulation in any form is a dangerous catalyst for abuse and misuse of power.

The work leaves us with a sense of hopelessness however, I feel it is meant to spurn that in the reader. We are told the tale in such a way where we want to fight the injustice for those who can not see nor can fight for themselves. Orwell wanted people to take up the fight and not be blinded by smoke and mirrors and he did this in a very ingenious way putting the human element on the backburner and then reintroducing it at the end.

If you as the reader do not find yourself saying, Are we not our brother's keeper? Should we not stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves? Plus, Are we not called by the golden rule to strive to a semblance of equality? In my mind, you've probably missed the point of this body of work.

Donna Leon knows who she is and what she wants to write about. The fact that she can do this honestly and in still hold to the promise of giving the reader's what they want in spite of herself, was a nice revelation to hear.

The pitfalls that hit most writers in the realm of fame and bias have been strategically cut out of Leon's routine and she tenaciously defends the actions taken to both keep the text relevant and her personal life personal.

I enjoyed this glimpse into the author and her musings on making the perfect companion for her then fledgling career which now spans 20+ years.

Thanks for audible UK for making this interview widely available so we can hear directly from Richard where his mind goes in the approach of his narrated works.

It was interesting to hear the perplexity in investigating the split between two consciousness's. In finding how it gave him and the producer surprise pause, gives one opportunity to go back and listen those conflicts of dark and light in the bloom of the revelation. It becomes a thicker and richer piece in the heavier burden of the man fighting against his own nature and in all ways losing the battle.

As for using up his "bag of voices" the timber of Richard's tones, pitch and speed with the overall delivery varies his characters enough. I can give an example, even if you can pick out similarities in Stevenson's Jekyll/Hyde's Dr. Lanyon which strikes resemblance to Heyer's The Convenient Marriage's Marcus the Earl of Rule, you do not confuse the two nor lose the story as separate pieces.

On the contrary, for me, it adds a warmth of familiarity to these audible pieces because it brings us to a point where if we were sitting down to read a good book our own inner monologue tells us the tale and supplies all voices.

Enjoyable interview!

The story adaptation was very good Stevenson, the author, kept it suspenseful and fresh even though the tale is an old one. The character development by Richard Armitage was subtle in his attempt, which I feel suited the story line of combining two individuals into the one outcome. He captured the horror and the beauty with equal levels of suspense and glorification.

I truly am never disappointed with Mr. Armitage's efforts as a narrator his talent for dynamics and character development far exceeds any limitations that could potentially be found in the text of a novel or book penned by an author. You can tell he is a seasoned spinner of tales and 100% the professional theatre trained actor. However, and most importantly, you also can tell he truly is an avid reader and lover of the written word.
