Cool sci-fi LITRPG

I enjoyed the first book of this series and this book is a proper sequel in that regard. Narration is a gripe, but the story more than makes up for it.

Historia
It hasn't been easy for Jason ever since his best friend vanished, sacrificing himself to prevent Jason from being dragged into an otherworldly portal. The world didn't seem to care like it should, and just as he was getting back on his feet, bizarre monsters from other worlds began to invade, terrorizing Earth. A lesser man would have wanted to run away from it all. Jason picked up a sword and started beating the hell out of things.

Meh
Revisado: 06-16-23
These side stories can always be a mixed bag that can to darn right frustrating it isn't the sequel you have been waiting for like GRR Martin's house of dragons which is a shameless prequel or Patrick Rothfuss' side story to king killer chronicles of a useless character that just serves to annoy fans all the more.
This one however is about what is happening on earth and continues subchapters that have teased what has been happening with the MC's friend. It's a good side story and narrator doesn't disappoint. While I do recommend this one I will say it is quite short and the book 4 audiobook as of this writing has no release date still...

Fainting Freeman
Revisado: 01-28-23
Not sure how many people got the reference to Crying Freeman there. I really want to like this story if the main character wasn't so inconsistent and annoying. The author really has gone out of his way to make an effeminate main character and succeeded at that. it all makes sense that instead of writing book 3 he takes a break to write a new book with a female main character as appropriate.
So as you learned from book 1 the MC is a loner that has only known hardships through his youth and goes on to become a war hardened veteran special ops assassin of any target. So of course he is cries when a random person is killed, misses his gf, and blacks out or faints whenever there is danger? I would not be surprised if the cover of the next book has him as a fairy.
besides my strong dislike for the MC's character and the hypocrisy of his values and hatred. The world of this story is pretty good, I am currently reading a lot of LITRPG progression stories so this one falls in that wheelhouse, if the MC could be more consistent in his convictions this story would be a lot more enjoyable. As it is I don't know if I will continue to follow this story especially if he is a fairy on the next cover. 😅
