One of the best narrators!
Revisado: 07-03-22
I enjoy all of T.E. Kinsey’s books. The more I listen to on Audible, the more I appreciate Elizabeth Knoweldon as a narrator. There are several narrators that are very likely good actors, but they run into the problem of trying to do drastically different voices for each character. Yes, a listener wants each character to sound different. When that is taken too far, the result is unrealistic and ridiculous. Ms. Knoweldon is able to narrate different characters with subtlety and animation. She enhances the stories greatly!

Historia
While gathering a collection of vintage book cover paintings for a special event in her quaint Rhode Island bookshop, Penelope discovers a spooky portrait of a beautiful woman, one who supposedly went mad, according to town gossip. Seymour, the local mailman, falls in love with the haunting image and buys the picture, refusing to part with it, even as fatal accidents befall those around it. Is the canvas cursed? Or is something more sinister at work?

The Rhode Island Accent is Awful
Revisado: 06-30-22
I wasn’t going to say anything, but it’s getting in the way of my enjoyment. I really want to finish it, because I want to find out the ending. I think I’ll see if my library has the actual book. I like the actress’s voice, but she has to STOP trying to do RI accents. She can’t do them. It’s so bad. If Seymour wasn’t in this, so heavily, or Sadie (those are the only ones she does this bizarre voice for) it would be okay. I won’t listen to more of this series by her.

Love the story. Narrator is amateur.
Revisado: 05-30-22
These books always have a bakery or a bookshop and a single, white, moderate woman whose money is inexplicable (at least her dim-witted privilege is called out in this book, and she’s relatively likable. This is a fun yarn with the addition of a corgi! The dog is why I downloaded. The actress, however, really needs to stop trying to “do voices.” They’re sounding stilted and jarring. When she’s the protagonist , she sounds good. She over-compensates when she does different characters and it can get slightly irritating. I’m going to listen to the next one (because of the corgi,) but if she doesn’t improve, I may not continue.

A Great Part of A Great Series
Revisado: 01-21-22
I discovered Albert and Rex when Patricia Fisher went back home, and I am so glad I did. These are completely unrealistic, very silly and wonderfully entertaining. I would watch a TV show of Albert and Rex easily, but these will suffice. Especially since the voice actor has matches the voice I imagined Albert having perfectly.
