This book tackles subtleties and explicit issues that empathic people face in a solid, reliable narrative. It’s inspiring to hear someone like Dr. Northrup whose medical point of view is amplified with her personal experiences and healing. I will listen to this again and again.

My son and I listen to this series, and can't put it down, Not only is the storyline magical and wise, it's message about our environment is hopeful. The main characters-children & preteens- are empowered to act bravely and listen to their intuition. As a reader, I love Meloy's wordsmithery and as a mom, I love the messages about humans and our relationship to the mysterious and sacred places in nature.

Would you listen to Wildwood again? Why?

Yes. It is funny, and has a lot of adventure. It would be good for children 5 and up.

We liked how she could be a lot of characters. Her expression was convincing and she told it at a fluid pace.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Where does Big Magic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's a 4 out of 5.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the tid bits and anecdotes about other artists who value process.

Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Gilbert – was your favorite?

Since it's nonfiction, it's mostly about Elizabeth Gilbert who I listen to a lot and respect as a writer and thinker.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The idea to keep movement going when stuck, and to try other things or hobbies or sports or minute tasks even--the movement will unstick you and help you return to your art or craft or creativity.

What did you love best about Positive Energy Practices?

The best part are the tools she shares in the last few chapters.

What did you like best about this story?

Practical and relaxing exercises.

What about Judith Orloff’s performance did you like?

I liked how she shared the background of her skills and talents. She's practical and also a bit woo woo which comes together well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It was moving when she described how her skills and talents weren't acknowledged as a child, yet there was no blame toward her parents. She sees things as they are and it's not about denigrating people, it's more about taking responsibility for ourselves.

Would you consider the audio edition of Drink to be better than the print version?

This might have been a better book to read --lots to chew on, put down and come back to.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the way the author told her story and also included relevant statistics about how drinking affects and is perceived in society/culture. She dawned light on myths and a belief system that just trips over itself again and again.

Did Carrington MacDuffie do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

MacDuffle told the story well--her voice matched the severity of drinking when that was portrayed, but sometimes it seemed forced with the male characters or emotional dialogue.

If you could give Drink a new subtitle, what would it be?

Drink: An Intellectual's Story of Facing Her Demons and Tracking Those That Exist in American Culture

Any additional comments?

Great read & information regarding addiction, recovery, and the role our society plays in it. The author bravely faces her addiction and is honest about recovery's challenges.
