Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

My New Obsession
Revisado: 10-03-19
I was craving a new type of book so I picked up Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. The book rocked me to my core, as I'm sure others who have read can agree.
So I picked up Dark Places since I already had a great experience with Flynn. Once again, absolutely brilliant.
Her way of writing the past and the present in alternating chapters makes you think you know how it will all end, make you SWEAR you know who the killer is. It makes the present seem more urgent, because when you go back in the past, you already know that her family will be slaughtered, so you're just... watching cattle for the slaughter (unintentionally book joke). You grow attached to them in a weird way knowing they're going to die.
It goes really well in tandem with the present, It makes you feel like you're in Present-Libby's head.
Overall, not quite up to snuff with Gone Girl, but I wasn't expecting another Gone Girl level book. Still give it 5 stars.

Historia
Though the young Warchief Thrall ended the demon curse that had plagued his people for generations, the orcs still wrestle with the sins of their bloody past. As the rampaging Horde, they waged a number of devastating wars against their perennial enemy - the Alliance. Yet the rage and bloodlust that drove the orcs to destroy everything in their path nearly consumed them as well. Long ago, on the idyllic world of Draenor, the noble orc clans lived in relative peace with their enigmatic neighbors, the draenei.

Moving Performance
Revisado: 01-21-19
I love this book to begin with and was very happy to pick up an audio version to listen to at work. Not only is her writing phenomenal, but she did a fantastic job reading. As with any voice actor, there are certain parts that don't always fit the voice but every single scene with Velen was spot on. You could feel Velen's ancient pain through her words during the events of Shattrath. Her voice broke in all the right ways and really made you feel the words. I don't know how to describe it perfectly, but its a line I'll always remember, now.

Excellence

I got this book on my free Audible trial and... I've listened to it so many times now. Once again Christie Golden has knocked it out of the park and Scott Brick brought her words to life wonderfully. I will be aiming to own all of the books Scott Brick voices!

She did good female voices
Revisado: 06-04-18
The story was great, her voice is beautiful. Her female voicing is so utterly perfect but her male voicing is so cringe I could hardly stand it. I understand its harder to do male voices as a high pitched female... I would have rather she tried less to make them deeper and just made her voice gruffer instead. Anduin was really great since he was young and the voice was fine higher pitched. In the future I'd suggest this voice actor pair up with another to handle the male voices.
