Historia
Feeling Great is based on 40 years of research and more than 40,000 hours treating individuals with severe mood problems. The goal is not just a rapid and complete elimination of negative feelings but the development of joy and enlightenment. In Feeling Great, Dr. David Burns reveals that our negative moods do not result from what's wrong with us, but rather - what's right with us.

Highly recommended
Revisado: 08-09-20
Lori writes really well and the story of her and her clients flows well (and the narrator brings it to life). The book demystifies therapy and the concept of mental health, while offering some great food for thought in the quotes, dialogues and words used in the book. Highly highly recommend.

Historia
All women want to kill their husbands some of the time. "Where there's a will, I intend to be in it", wives half-joke to each other. Marriage, it would appear, is a fun-packed frivolous hobby, only occasionally resulting in death. But when Jazz Jardine is arrested for her husband's murder, the joke falls flat. Life should begin at 40, but not with life imprisonment for killing your spouse.

Historia
Homecoming draws on over a hundred firsthand interviews, archival recordings and memoirs by the women and men who came to Britain from the West Indies between the late 1940s and the early 1960s. In their own words, we witness the transition from the optimism of the first postwar arrivals to the race riots of the late 1950s. We hear from nurses in Manchester; bus drivers in Bristol; seamstresses in Birmingham; teachers in Croydon; dockers in Cardiff; inter-racial lovers in High Wycombe, and Carnival Queens in Leeds.

Stories worth listening to
Revisado: 01-13-20
The narration brings the stories to life, making it worth listening to.
I’d recommend it to anyone who’d like to understand the Windrush generation and people who live in or had their parents/grandparents come from British colonies... many similarities in the way of life and community.

Historia
Taking one of the most politicised and misused words associated with Muslim women and Islamophobia, It’s Not About the Burqa is poised to change all that. Here are voices you won’t see represented in the national news headlines: 18 Muslim women speaking frankly about the hijab and wavering faith, about love and divorce, about feminism, queer identity, sex and the twin threats of a disapproving community and a racist country. Funny, warm, sometimes sad and often angry, each of these essays is a passionate declaration.

Real and relatable stories, loved how each was told in its own different ‘voice’.
