Historia
Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

Historia
Deep in the backwoods of South Georgia, eighteen-year-old Maya narrowly escapes a savage end. The victim of a vast human-trafficking operation managed out of Mexico, she had the misfortune to discover the dark plans of a high-ranking client. Her fate seemed sealed, until Leonard Moye, a lonely eccentric who doesn't suffer fools or tolerate trespassers, takes the young woman under his protection. Both bearing the scars from personal tragedies, they soon develop a bond that makes them, as a pair, a formidable foe, even for hardened criminals and professional scumbags.

Publisher is doing a terrible job with this book
Revisado: 06-12-24
The Kindle price for this book is 17.99. Who charges this much for a Kindle book. I wanted to read it based on reviews but every other book I've read on Kindle has been $7, $9 or $14 at the most. So I passed.
I was happy to see it here on Audible, on sale to $2.00. That's obviously a great price. However listing to it is a disappointment. The narrator is fine, but it's just a bad match for this story for a number of reasons but mainly I think a guy would have fit better

Historia
Soon to be a major motion picture directed by Tommy Lee Jones, The Homesman is a devastating story of early pioneers in 1850s American West. It celebrates the ones we hear nothing of: the brave women whose hearts and minds were broken by a life of bitter hardship. A "homesman" must be found to escort a handful of them back East to a sanitarium. When none of the county’s men steps up, the job falls to Mary Bee Cuddy - ex-teacher, spinster, indomitable and resourceful.

A Perfect Marriage between Story and Narrator...
Revisado: 06-03-24
A more perfect marriage between story and narrator I have yet to hear. The novel is an absolute classic, beautiful and tragic. The performance given by the narrator is pitch perfect in every way. You WILL NOT be disappointed!

Historia
It's not the dead body - Jack Leightner has seen hundred of bodies in his tour with the NYPD. It's not the dank setting - the narrow banks along Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal. So why does the sight of the fatally stabbed young man make the detective almost faint in the canal's tangled weeds? Jack doesn't understand why he becomes obsessed with this low-priority case, why he allows it to jeopardize his career and even his life. Especially since the investigation draws him exactly where he doesn't want to go: into the heart of Red Hook.

Laughable narration. Terrible! Distracting!
Revisado: 05-29-24
The narration is so dull and flat I thought for sure it was AI reading it. I actually laughed out loud a couple of times it was so ridiculous. Waste of money

Historia
Gage Chandler is descended from kings. That’s what his mother always told him. Years later, he is a true crime writer, with one grisly success—and a movie adaptation—to his name, along with a series of subsequent less notable efforts. But now he is being offered the chance for the big break: to move into the house where a pair of briefly notorious murders occurred, apparently the work of disaffected teens during the Satanic Panic of the 1980s.

I did not enjoy the structure of this story
Revisado: 05-27-24
I did not enjoy the structure of this story, but it was the performance or reading of it that really killed it for me.
