the amount of important female characters would have justified this being a dual Voice Acted work. Jonathan Keeble does really good male voices but his choices of female ones was rather limited and numerous times I was confused by who were speaking. his male voices had a good variety that I never had issues distinguishing between them in conversations.

very strange choice of accents.

the story is decent but the Voice actors are a bit off. Jonathan gives Daxs an American accent so hearing him talking about London breaks the immersion. Maeve's voices were highly lacking. the fact that she chose an Australian-ish accent for the Pró daughter despite the father sounding like a cave man was the cherry on-top for the rest of her emotionless acting. Freda and Kara's voices are near Identical while Jess and Alyssa also being very close. I wish she could better differentiate her characters and actually worked with Jonathan on their scripts

I honestly didn't have High expectations for the plot, if going by the previous two's, but wow was I disappointed. don't get me wrong, the sex scenes are fantastic and are even better with the work of our VAs. granted the fact that Steve still has the incorrect accent and the bees with Asian names sound Scottish, or in the Queen bee herself sounding like Mrs. Doubtfire, is incredibly odd. especially when Steve Talks about nickers or how temperate the isles are. The Plot some how failed to meet my low expectations and turned a character I liked into one I viewed in less favorable opinion than the Tsundere Sheep. which is a commendable feat given my distaste for said sheep. ultimately I could not finish this book because, ironically, the amount of sex scenes.
Normally I love sex scenes and Love even more when they are quality sex scenes, but when the Plot is frustrating me with how Brick for brains it has become, it turns otherwise enjoyable scenes into obtrusive road blocks for the continuation for events in the non-sexy plot.
God I wanted to love this book. it is incredibly difficult to find stories with quality scenes and having a good VA for both genders( nothing quite like hearing a man moan in falsetto). but Ultimately a story is only as good as the plot and when the plot is poor it ruins it.

a very nice "auto-biography"/" history book". the fact that you have US army rangers in a fantasy setting gives the name a double meaning, as in fantasy the ranger is skilled in both ranged and melee combat.
I will say, the fact that Christopher Ryan Grant pronounces Brasier/brazier as "brassière" was incredibly confusing as it made the lizard mummies sound like they were wearing metal bras. Aside from that his performance was fantastic.

so I have to say that this entry into the series left a bad taste in my mouth.
several times the MC and party just straight up lose brain cells for the sake of added drama, especially during the last few hours. the Amount of times the MC forgets to use abilities that would aid in his battles makes me frustrated.

while Mr. Gilliland had quite an array of voices that were unique the editing of the audio left much to be desired. you would often hear background noises like traffic, tapping, or even just unneeded ASMR of Mr.Gilliland breathing in, swallowing, or just smacking his lips.

The opposite was true for Ms. Cohen. Often had character voices blurred together to the point it was difficult to follow dialogue involving multiple women. luckily her audio was edited so you couldn't hear what was going on in her background.

another fantastic furry smut book by Jan Stryvant.
the main issue I had, unfortunately, was with Jessica's voice acting. overall she was quite good, however there were two glaring problems.
1. her sentences were too clipped, numerous times the last word in her narration or character dialogue was either partially missing or completely gone.
2. not sure if this was a script error or pronunciation error, but she repeatedly pronounced "balaclava" (or ski mask in English) as "baklava"( a dessert often served in the Mediterranean). while it is funny to hear about Dan and gang wearing food, it still bothered me that her editors did not catch it.

man if it weren't for the fact that I was at work listening to this book, I would have cried like a babe at the ending. between Jack Voraces' fantastic performance and Dean Henegar's great writing the ending hit me like a dump truck full of feels. The battles feel raw, and the intrigue doesn't smell of BS plot machinations. I really am looking forward to book 5

multiple leads tear me apart

man, I REALLY wanted to like this book. the thing is: there are a bit too many view points. just like in DnD or any slasher flick, YOU DON'T SPLIT THE PARTY. it breaks the immersion of the story and leads to bad things happening. here I am enjoying Darwin's tale, then it turns to Cass' tale, then Valery's, then the King's, then the PK Sadist's. each time I start to enjoy the story the author changes it to another person's. I can understand having two main leads, or even on the occasion using a random person to give an outside perspective, but this many was way too much for me to keep interest in the story.
This pisses me off because I was enjoying the main story.
I really wished that the summary gave a multi lead warning, so I didn't have to spend a credit then feel like crap for doing it.

details can be a double edged sword

so sex, drugs, and hardcore magic. it was definitely a great read. the multiple view points always throw me off when listening/reading a book, however the almost consistent pattern of Ymr , ymr, princess, princept l, made it more bearable. the sex scenes where deliciously done. no constant dick sucking that I have seen in other books, and the women are handled with a great amount of TLC. my ONLY real concern is the usage of the "LoversKnot?" spell. that whole scene was incredibly uncomfortable because it is 100% rape and it was highly sexualized. the woman was sooo under the influence that she could NOT even refuse the advances. God I felt awful listening to a woman basically being ruffied, forcing me to skip majority of the chapter. If it weren't for that scene I would have rated this book higher. I have high hopes for book 3 so long as another event like this isn't repeated to the same degree.

what can I say? did I go into this expecting a typical YA novel? Yes. I honestly saw the cover and thought it was going to be one of those books that I drop half way through because one of the plot points grated on me. doesn't help that the cover person barely resembles the MC. however, despite being in the form of a YA novel it is surprisingly adult. Not adult in the sense of sexual content and crass language, but adult in the sense of being dark. And no, not Edgy dark, but a real life dark. Yes there is rape in this, no it isn't done in a way to excite the reader. and no it isn't a frequent thing in this book. with the amount of reviews I have seen I was expecting that point to be FAR more prevalent than it actually was. Go into this book expecting a typical YA novel and you will be heavily surprised. this isn't the Hunger games series where it's a bad satire on modern problems, this is a dark fantasy where the "good guys" shoot first and ask questions later, and where the truly evil use people like disposable wipes.

Be warned: you will enjoy this.
