Historia
The dead man is the manager of Tahiti's Paradise Coffee Plantation, producer of the most expensive coffee bean in the world, the winey, luscious Blue Devil. Nothing tangible points to foul play behind his fall from a cliff, but FBI agent John Lau, a relative of the coffee-growing family, has his suspicions. What he needs is evidence, and who better to provide it than his friend, anthropologist Gideon Oliver, the Skeleton Detective? Gideon is willing to help, but surprisingly - and suspiciously - both the police and the other family members refuse to okay an exhumation order.

Well crafted story and excellent performance. The cast and settings are skillfully portrayed; they become vibrant and real. The tension is carefully tightened and the denouement realistic and well plotted. My next listen is the next installment...

Historia
Ansley Park is one of Atlanta’s most desirable neighborhoods. But in one mansion, in a teenager’s lavish bedroom, a girl has been savagely murdered. In the hallway, her horrified mother stands amid shattered glass, having killed her daughter’s attacker with her bare hands. Detective Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is here only to do a political favor; the murder site belongs to the Atlanta police. But Trent soon sees something the cops are missing, something in the trail of blood, in a matrix of forensic evidence, and in the eyes of the shell-shocked mother.

A book that I won't forget
Revisado: 02-16-24
I like the relationships between a very diverse trio of protagonists. The smart humor, the caring, and the word sparring. The story is interesting, and it presents situations where characters can develop quickly and interestingly. The author also creates visual settings, around the Atlanta area, carefully constructing scenes that really stand out and stick with the audience.

My favorite of the many delights in this second book of the Thursday Murder Club series is the character development. This cast is funny, warm, dangerous!, and always enjoyable. So glad to join them as they solve another crime. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Disappointing and disjointed
Revisado: 08-23-22
Having listened to every Preston & Child book in the Nora Kelly series, with some books several times, I can only hope that the authors put some real effort into the next chapters. This one ends as a very weak attempt at keeping several previously well crafted characters worthy of further interest.

Historia
Before men ruled the earth, there were wolves. Once abundant in North America, these majestic creatures were hunted to near extinction in the lower 48 states by the 1920s. But in recent decades, conservationists have brought wolves back to the Rockies, igniting a battle over the very soul of the West. With novelistic detail, Nate Blakeslee tells the gripping story of one of these wolves, O-Six, a charismatic alpha female named for the year of her birth.
