Like talking to a friend
Revisado: 05-10-24
This was riveting! Remarkable story telling ability. There was no lag in the story at all. What an awesome circle of friends and a supportive village for sure! We should all be so fortunate. I felt like a fly in the walls of her daily life. So painful. So intense. So real. I look forward to reading more of Delia’s works.
Delia, I believe you would make a wonderful dinner companion.

Historia
What do you need to leave behind? When I was in college, I figured my life would come together around graduation. I'd meet a guy; we'd plan a beautiful wedding and buy a nice house - not necessarily with a picket fence, but with whatever kind of fence we wanted. I might work, or I might not, but whatever we decided, I would be happy. When I got out of college and my life didn't look like that, I floundered around, trying to figure out how to get the life I had always dreamed of. I went down so many different paths for it. But none of them were as satisfying as I hoped they would be.

It seems like any other day. You wake up, drink a cup of coffee, and head out. But today, when you open your front door, waiting for you is a small wooden box. The contents of this mysterious box tells you the exact number of years you will live. From suburban doorsteps to desert tents, every person on every continent receives the same box. In an instant, the world is thrust into a collective frenzy. Where did these boxes come from? What do they mean? Is there truth to what they promise?

A Question to Ponder
Revisado: 07-05-23
The story kept my attention. Makes you ask THAT question about your own morality.
The narrator was exceptionally. The other strung the story well and was not gratuitously using add ins, like sex, violence and foul language.
I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Historia
In her compelling, beautifully crafted novel, New York Times best-selling author Marie Bostwick celebrates friendships old and new - and the unlikely threads that sometimes lead us exactly where we need to go. Christmas is fast approaching, and New Bern, Connecticut, is about to receive the gift of a new pastor, hired sight unseen to fill in while Reverend Tucker is on sabbatical. Meanwhile, Margot Matthews’ friend, Abigail, is trying to matchmake, even though Margot has all but given up on romance.

Loved the story, but…
Revisado: 09-16-22
This is the third story I’ve listened to by the author. I enjoy how she develops characters a new intertwines them. Each one has a rich personality. I also enjoys and appreciates the Christian themes she adds without digressing into a sermon. These theme are applicable and make a reader think about “how” they can actuate the theme for their lives.
I enjoyed each character, but didn’t enjoy their voices compared to earlier books listened to. They were not horrible. I just preferred earlier voice artist performances for Evelyn and Abigail. (The ones from the story when Evelyn first moved to New Bern. My apologies as I cannot recall the title.)
I must see if there are book clubs who read and discuss her books. This author is great!

More Than Just a Story
Revisado: 07-04-22
Christina Moore narrates this story superbly. I have listened to this story before and, as before, loved it. It is the perfect play along regardless of what I am doing. Driving, cooking, gardening even when working in my studio. Jennifer Chiaverini writes a marvelous story about the Elm Creek Quilters. The character development flows well and occurs at the right time in the story. I never had a moment where I wished the story would end, but I had several moments where I was sorry I had to stop listening. :)

Historia
Marie Bostwick weaves the unforgettable story of four very different women whose paths cross, changing their lives forever. It’s a long way from Fort Worth, Texas, to New Bern, Connecticut, yet it only takes a day in the charming Yankee town to make Evelyn Dixon realize she’s found her new home. The abrupt end of her marriage was Evelyn’s wake-up call to get busy chasing her dream of opening a quilt shop. Finding a storefront is easy enough; starting a new life isn’t....

Makes me want to Quilt
Revisado: 07-02-22
The story was well written. I enjoyed the character development. There was a portion of the story, starting around or after the middle of it, that it seemed the actor voice for Abigail changed. Like maybe the actor was changed. It didn’t affect the flow of the story though. It was just something I noticed. Also, I appreciated the subtle mentions of God, forgiveness and the Lord. It was not overbearing or gratuitous, but rather natural and appropriate for the various situations. I think I would have liked to known Charlie’s referenced situation which fueled his contentious argument with Elizabeth (the main character, just in case I got the name wrong) though. Again this is not a major point for me. Just something I thought about afterwards. I will read other works by this author.

The story dragged on for me. It was too long. The narrator’s constant comparisons was tiresome.

Historia
The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost 50 years, are testy and bored with each other...who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters - Barb's favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John's darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn't be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough. Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down. Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold....

Excellent Summer (or anytime) Read
Revisado: 07-20-20
The characters had depth. The narrators used a great deal of inflection and were never flat or boring. The chapters flowed into each other. I appreciated the approach of using a dedicated person narrative to each chapter, which made it more focused.
I highly recommend this book. I wish I could have this one on a long car ride. I listened while making dinner or working in my studio.
I’ll be reading more by Kristan Higgins and looking for more with these narrators. (The character Barb and her narrator are my new bff’s. Lol!)

Revisado: 06-14-20
Great summer read! Author kept me engaged. The narrator performed wonderfully!
Not my usual type of book, so it was a refreshing choice. Wasn’t love sick or sexually charged and graphic. Nothing gratuitous. I really appreciated that. Recommend this so a reader who enjoys a story laced with provocative thought points, like how to be hurt, but not want revenge.
