This was such a well told story with so many characters that I thought there was no way I’d keep it straight. But I did thanks to the amazing storytelling. Wonderful book. Just bought the physical copy as well!

Twelve-year-old Maddie Thompson and her friend Lana share a love of horror stories and wild imaginings. But Lana insists they are too old for pretending. It’s time for a different game: serving Him, a figure she sees lurking in the dark, mysterious and demanding. According to Lana, she and Maddie must obey Him or else suffer the consequences. Maddie doesn’t want to lose her most important friendship, even if it means luring an innocent girl into the woods—as a sacrifice for Him.

The tragedy
Revisado: 07-16-24
The story, characters, and uniqueness of this book is greatly appreciated. Overall, it was a really good book, but Maddie ended up ruining parts of it for me. There is no growth with her character, the way she does what she does in the end, and the the fact that she was always so focused on herself and no one else. It’s sad that she is that selfish that she didn’t even try to make it right in the end. The characters of Lana and Sage were very likable though. I feel that Lana is suffering from her delusions and it’s sad that she has no control over them and really needs to be where she is. Sage grows and even has to deal with what was left over from that for the rest of her life. But Maddie was a disappointment, and I felt that she was the focus so it was really hard to connect with someone who seemed emotionally immature and continued to be that way. I’m actually hoping there is a second part coming out so I can continue this and see what happens with these people.

Emily Bennett works as a therapist in Pennsylvania, helping children overcome their troubled pasts—even as she struggles to forget her own. Once upon a time, Emily was part of a middle school clique called the Harpies—six popular girls who bullied the new girl to her breaking point. The Harpies took a blood oath: never tell a soul what they did to Grace Farmer. Now, fourteen years later, it seems karma has caught up to them when one member of that vicious circle commits suicide.

The harpies were impossible for me to connect to. I felt like their wasn’t any real personal growth or redemption here. Interesting read and not surprising outcome but decent story.

Historia
In the latest installment of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summons up dazzling worlds to bring us the story of Armand—eternally young, with the face of a Botticelli angel. We go with Armand across the centuries to the Kiev Rus of his boyhood - a ruined city under Mongol dominion—and to ancient Constantinople, where Tartar raiders sell him into slavery. And in a magnificent palazzo in the Venice of the Renaissance we see him emotionally and intellectually in thrall to the great vampire Marius.

Well…
Revisado: 03-24-23
I’m actually really disappointed in the story. I felt like I had no real purpose and it did not help me understand Armand at all really. I love Anne Rice. I love the series but this book… I had to force myself to finish. It just felt like there was no true point to this book and it did not give me a better insight in any of the characters at all. The other books in the series are amazing and I really recommend them

I’m not even going to try to describe the book because it is so intricate and beautiful. This author is now one of my favorite authors. I had read one of her books previously and really enjoyed it so I decided to try another one of her books. I see that she is really talented and I am so happy that I discovered her books for myself. Loved this book

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

The reviews on this were mixed and as a fan of mythology and romance they were far off. The characters were well written and developed. The dark romance was sweet and hot. I’m looking forward to reading more about these complicated gods.

An interesting story with many turns. It was easy to care for the characters and definitely a story that sticks with you. The reader for Tessa though was a bit annoying when it came to the male speaking parts but otherwise it was good.
