Hottest Book Boyfriend by far

As a Romantasy fan, I’m a huge fan of morally gray MMCs. I love Rhysand in ACOTAR and Xaden in The Empyrean series. Kingfisher is the hottest MMC I have come across. His mouth is absolutely filthy and the spice in this book did not disappoint. If you aren’t into super spicy books this may not be the one for you. I love the trials and world building. Carrion provided comic relief after annoying me initially. I loved Renfis, Everlayne and Laureth as supporting characters. I was engaged the entire time! Callie Hart did a fantastic job! The voice actors are fantastic in this recording. I went to buy a copy of this book from Barnes and Noble and was told it is coming out 12/5. Thanks for the recommendation Thtgirlreads! This book delivered on all fronts! I’m so ready for book 2! If you are on the fence, here’s your sign to read this!

Wrecked emotionally

Love the storyline. Violet got on my nerves more in this portion. I’m not ok over Xaden! He’s totally my second favorite book boyfriend after Rhysand in ACOTAR. Also not lost on me that General Sorrengail is essentially Black moon Lilith with her deep desire. I was shocked when her motivations were revealed because she seems so cold but I appreciate it. I need the 3 rd book yesterday. I still hate Jack Barlow with a passion.

Decent story

This was a decent story, some of it was predictable. Other parts were unexpected. I enjoyed it, but felt like the middle of the book dragged on. There was lots of drama and it was a lot to unpack the childhood trauma of the main characters. Emotionally it was heavy, but redeemed itself in the end.

Interesting and enlightening

As an African American woman I didn’t think I would learn much from this when it was suggested by a friend. It actually helped me come to terms with the fact that I am angry and my sassiness being a cover for it. It also helped me to understand how the author felt about her upbringing and the relationship she had with other women around her. It’s a great home girl intervention for anyone who needs one or wants to understand how Black women feel. All of the Beyoncé references annoyed me but I understood why she used them.

Not what I expected

This book was not what I was expecting. I would not recommend it and I would likely stay away from any other books by these authors. The characters are poorly developed and the book skips around so much it is hard to follow. I understand what the authors were trying to do and it was poorly executed in my opinion.

Nice refresher

I read this book in 6th or 7th grade. I had forgotten many of the details, but wanted to listen to it prior to seeing the film. This book was a read in necessity in Middle School whereas I read L’Engle’s book A Ring of Endless Light willingly. I also liked the movie adaptation in my adolescence. I understand why this book is a requirement in Middle and High schools because the themes are important during that period of development. The Foreward read by the author was nice, but the Portion after the book read by her Granddaughter was enlightening. The introduction by Ava DuVernay was touching and made the story that much more personal.

Hilarious

This was a hilarious book! Tiffany has a way of making you laugh at tragic events and stories! I listened to this while driving and there were days I was laughing to the point of almost peeing on myself! Her early years were tragic, but I find it beautiful that she is able to see humor in it now. Tiffany is an amazing comic and I feel like i was at one of her shows! Definitely worth the listen!

Jill is amazing and I laughed hysterically every time I listened to this in my 30 mile drive to work! I couldn't wait to listen and the cameo from Abby Elliot as Brooke Von Weber is the best!!!!

Fantastic listen with just enough raciness and romance

Another great Romance novel by Lauren Blakey. She's one of my favorites! I loved Spencer & Charlotte's story after being introduced to them in Mister O (Nick & Harper's) story! It's got enough drama to get your attention and keep it. The reporter & the older daughter of the chauvinist pig totally got on my nerves, but they don't detract from the enjoyment of the story. Take a chance on this, you will love it!!!

Not my favorite

This book was not my favorite book by Emily Giffin. As much as I loved Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof and Love the one you're with I couldn't get into this book. The girl who narrates Meredith has an annoying voice and I felt like the book dragged on without giving closure on the 2 sisters stories. Josie was a self centered, irresponsible character with superficial observations and statements. I wouldn't read again. Glad I didn't buy this book in paperback because I would have sold it or it would have sat lifeless on a shelf like the dialogue it contains.
