Fascinating new look at American history
Revisado: 09-22-22
This is a compelling look at George Washington, businessman, with new insights into American history. Engagingly written by Nagel and beautifully read by Sanderson. Really enjoyed listening to this!

Virginia, 1933: Lauren Greenwood was born to look pretty and land a rich husband. For her and her high-society family, it’s easy to forget that America is in the devastating grip of the Great Depression, where children run wild in the streets, endless queues for soup kitchens line sidewalks, and desperation hangs in the air. But when a young servant comes to Lauren, pregnant and begging for help, her world crumbles. Someone she loves is responsible, and when she finds out the shocking truth she must decide: Protect the Greenwood name or be cast out?

Good story premise, details not well thought out
Revisado: 02-22-21
This has all the bones of a good story. But it felt to me that was hastily written, as the details of the plot could be much more thoughtfully considered. This is the first time I’ve read this author, and am not surprised to look up her book list and see that she is pushing out work at a rapid pace. Result is a less- than-satisfying listen, even though Ms. Rodriguez does a good job as the narrator.

Loved this read
Revisado: 10-30-20
Chasten’s honesty is moving and often funny. Great insight into his upbringing in “real America,” his coming out, falling in love and being thrust onto the national stage as the husband of the first openly gay candidate for President, Pete Buttigieg. Charming and compelling read.

Historia
Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize David McCullough tells the dramatic story behind the story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly: Wilbur and Orville Wright.
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright's Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The Age of Flight had begun. How did they do it? And why?

Love McCullough's writing and his voice!
Revisado: 09-24-18
David McCullough presents his well researched book in such a compelling way - and his speaking voice is one of the best on the planet (remember his narration of Ken Burn's Civil War series?). It's refreshing to delve into an historic account that isn't revisionist history - the Wright Brothers truly were geniuses, and the risks that they took to achieve their flight breakthrough is fascinating. I recommend this book to everyone, it is one of my favorites.
