Though I’m no medieval scholars, I’ve read many books. Still I encountered new information about daily life and traveling.

Historia
Written with an exciting combination of narrative flair and historical authority, this interpretation of the tragic life of Catherine Howard, fifth wife of Henry VIII, breaks new ground in our understanding of the very young woman who became queen at a time of unprecedented social and political tension and whose terrible errors in judgment quickly led her to the executioner's block.

Someone please tell the narrator how commas work for pauses
Revisado: 09-12-23
The story is interesting and wide ranging; however, the narrator has an irritating affectation.
She habitually pauses at unnecessary places in sentences, where there are no commas and none is needed.
It makes it very difficult to follow the meaning an intricate sentence.
Would not listen to this narrator again.
I will probably purchase the book so I can read it and understand the sentences properly.

Overlong
Revisado: 09-02-22
The quotes at the beginning of chapters are even more obnoxiously. Lengthy social media posts annoying to listen to. Keeping track of the 2 names for almost ever character annoying. She should have realized when she had to write the case summary tying up loose ends that this wasn’t working as a solvable mystery. Tired of Stryke/Robin behaving like moon struck middle schoolers. Maybe they should ask Pat to Ask the other if “he/she likes me or like like me.”

Transgender men comprise a large, growing proportion of the trans population, yet they remain largely invisible. In this powerful, timely, and eye-opening account, award-winning sociologist Arlene Stein draws from dozens of interviews with transgender people and their friends and families, as well as with activists and medical and psychological experts. Unbound documents the varied ways younger trans men see themselves and how they are changing our understanding of what it means to be male and female in America.

Good info. Extremely Repetitive
Revisado: 05-31-20
Good info repeated and repeated and repeated. Could have been a great essay. Took too long telling the first story of Ben. Not sure what author’s lesbian perspective added to a transgender book.

Historia
In the years following the publication of Into Thin Air, much has changed on Mount Everest. Among all the books documenting the glorious adventures in mountains around the world, and the unique perils and challenges of Mount Everest, none details how the recent infusion of wealth into the mountains is reacting with the age-old lust for glory to draw crime to the highest places on the planet.

Report on crime on Everest interesting in light of 2019 overcrowding. But bizarre musical interruptions broke the flow of reporting . Truly poor editorial decision.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Sam Kean come more incredible stories of science, history, language, and music, as told by our own DNA. There are genes to explain crazy cat ladies, why other people have no fingerprints, and why some people survive nuclear bombs. Genes illuminate everything from JFK's bronze skin (it wasn't a tan) to Einstein's genius. They prove that Neanderthals and humans bred thousands of years more recently than any of us would feel comfortable thinking.

I thought it was one of those books where the author reads her work. Nope. Just obnoxious voice.
Author lost focus on senior nomads and roamed into company towns and earth houses.
