Historia
During the week of Dr. Agnes Stacey’s daughter’s wedding, each of the 11 attendees in the small family gathering brings their own simmering tensions. Agnes’s uncle, Professor Malcolm Miller, has harbored a family secret since Agnes’s parents died in a car crash when she was a young girl. Dr. Joseph Bradshaw, who married into the family, has nursed a private obsession with Agnes since his brief stint as her therapist. Agnes herself is returning to her ex-husband’s home for the first time, just as she’s trying to extricate herself from a potent new love affair.

Nothing much happens
Revisado: 10-27-24
The performance is excellent, but as the story really has very little to it, much of what we listen to is the rumination of multiple characters about their childhood, their identity, life, death, and one unfortunate (or perhaps fortunate, as we’re forced to consider many times!) decision made by one of them in 1946. I felt impatient by the end.

Historia
Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside. The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organization that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

Historia
This, the third volume of the best-selling The Cazalet Chronicles, takes up the story of the Cazalet family in the spring of 1942 and follows them through the war to VE Day. Polly and Clary have left Home Place for London where Archie Lestrange keeps a close eye on them; Louise, surprisingly, has married; Polly makes a painful discovery; Zoe, despairing of Rupert's return, stumbles on solace; and Edward's duplicity demands a reckoning.

Another extraordinary book

These books enthrall me. The only reason I’ve docked a star for this one is that the reader’s rendering of an American accent is (unintentionally) hilarious. Otherwise, everything is superb.
