Historia
When retired math teacher Grace Winters is left a run-down house on a Mediterranean island by a long-lost friend, curiosity gets the better of her. She arrives in Ibiza with a one-way ticket, no guidebook and no plan. Among the rugged hills and golden beaches of the island, Grace searches for answers about her friend’s life, and how it ended. What she uncovers is stranger than she could have dreamed. But to dive into this impossible truth, Grace must first come to terms with her past.

Historia
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

Best reference for those of us who are searching for health
Revisado: 03-30-23
Dr Koz’s books are the best I’ve read so far in my search for healing. I am a pharmacist who has been doing research for > 20 years on leaky gut caused by antibiotic use and I am finally learning to put all these pieces together to help my family live healthier lives. I am so constantly confused by conflicting data in medical information and alternative medicine publications. Dr Koz explains each topic so well and puts it all into perspective in a simple way. Trust me, it is so NOT simple. I wish I had these two books years ago and feel like I am starting from scratch with my search now that I’ve read them in a good way.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Frankie Budge—aspiring writer, indifferent student, offbeat loner—is determined to make it through yet another summer in Coalfield, Tennessee, when she meets Zeke, a talented artist who has just moved into his grandmother’s house and who is as awkward as Frankie is. Romantic and creative sparks begin to fly, and when the two jointly make an unsigned poster, shot through with an enigmatic phrase, it becomes unforgettable to anyone who sees it. The edge is a shantytown filled with gold seekers. We are fugitives, and the law is skinny with hunger for us.

Kevin Wilson is one of my favorite authors ever
Revisado: 11-28-22
I think everyone in the world probably has a version of themselves that can relate to Franky and Zecke the two teenagers in this book. Kevin Wilson has a way of tangling his reader up in the complex emotions of his characters and unraveling the tangle just in time at the end. I love his creative prose and interesting story lines that seem so normal when they certainly are not. Thank you for sharing your story at the end Mr Wilson.

Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Historia
The Overstory unfolds in concentric rings of interlocking fable that range from antebellum New York to the late 20th-century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. An air force loadmaster in the Vietnam War is shot out of the sky, then saved by falling into a banyan. An artist inherits 100 years of photographic portraits, all of the same doomed American chestnut. A hard-partying undergraduate in the late 1980s electrocutes herself, dies, and is sent back into life by creatures of air and light.

Revisado: 09-12-21
Thank you for this. I have been saying since my daughter was a baby that her mind works differently not in a bad way but that she thinks so much bigger than the rest of us. She is severely dyslexic but struggles to get the accommodations she needs in school because she’s brilliant. This book helped me so much and I will share it with her and her teachers. Thank you so much for your research and hard work! This book is life changing!!!
