Although Stoker did not invent the vampire, the novel's influence on the popularity of vampires has been singularly responsible for many theatrical, film and television interpretations since its publication. Required listening for any fan of the genre!

Doesn't stand test of time
Revisado: 04-12-17
Premise of story is good. Narrator did a great job. However too many repetitive mushy descriptions of how great the main characters are. Would have been an excellent short story.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Definitely worth the listen

Not at all what I expected. Definitely a philosophy on life book. Finished it in one sitting. I did find the characters a bit egotistical but that's simply part of the plot or the style.

Had potential...

I didn't care for the narrator's depiction of the characters, especially the main female and the main villain. The main female I thought exasperating and annoying which did not endear me to her nor did it make some of the other character's reactions to her as believable as they could have been. The main plot line was intriguing, but not so much that I'd want to sit thru follow on stories with the same characters and motivations.
