Historia
Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

AWFUL NARRATOR!!
Revisado: 11-04-24
The story line was good, but the narrator was so hard to listen to. I almost quit listening numerous times. Why make the annoying squeaky voice? I think ithe book should be re-recorded, it’s truly that bad. I made a note of the narrator’s name in my phone, so I’m sure to not listen to anything else she narrates.

The overdone, exaggerated southern accent.
Revisado: 09-28-24
It was hard for me to listen to because of the exaggerated southern accent. I almost turned it off immediately. It grated on my nerves. I’m 64 years old, born and raised in Texas. I’ve never heard anyone talk like that in Texas. My husband had an aunt in Alabama that had a similar accent.

Excessive foul language
Revisado: 06-21-24
I’ve listened to all of the O’Brien books. The excessive foul language in this book really took away from the story. It was a distraction. I’m very disappointed.

Historia
A brutal attack on Emily Stanton's family has left her for dead...until she is found in the woods by a handsome stranger with a thick brogue who vows to protect her. There's only one problem: As a woman with a noble English background, she has no business keeping company with such a man. For Scotsman Iain MacEnroy, Emily's high-tone accent is a bitter reminder of the oppressive regime he left behind. The last thing he needs is to be burdened by the needs of a beautiful, blue-eyed Englishwoman.

Historia
Mark Rivers was a firefighter until he got trapped in a wildfire and suffered third-degree burns on his face and body. After a year of recovering, Mark is trying to piece his life back together but struggles both emotionally and psychologically. He's been a recluse until he forces himself to attend his niece's school play and sees Riley, the school's art teacher. Immediately, Mark feels a connection to her. Maybe it's the kind way she greets his niece or the way the art she created for the school play is reminiscent of his late mom's artwork.

Historia
The ideal lady wears lace, speaks quietly, and never - under any circumstances - fixes an automobile. But Gwyn Ruthers has never cared two snaps about being the ideal lady. With the war to end all wars exploding across the English Channel, she leaves behind her restrictive life as a chauffer's daughter to serve in an all-female ambulance unit in France. She's not about to let her social status or gender prevent her from serving her country. Not even a handsome captain can distract her from her mission. Most of the time.

Narration
Revisado: 11-20-22
The narration was just awful. I tried to listen to this on another occasion, but only got through about the third chapter. It was hard to tell who was speaking, it all sounded so close to the same. It’s a great story. That’s the reason I endured the whole thing. I have never given a poor review before now, and I’ve listened to a lot of books.
