Historia
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Incredible
Revisado: 10-29-20
I've listen to Mariah since her first album through the changes and the highs and lows. I've always been amazed at her ability to come back and grow through the difficult times. Listening to this brought a lot of understanding to what she does and why. It also inspired me and to hold the faith through three storms. Life is messy for every one. Storms come to us all. I'm glad that she finally got some wisdom around her and defined boundaries. Changing your cast of characters is vital. Fly like an eagle and remove the things and people that hold you down. Although I disagree with her political views I love her faith and music. Hope she will do more acting. Ready for another daydream, charm bracelet, emancipation type album to take her flying once again. She is a once in a lifetime artist. Glad you made it out of the shack.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Brilliant & Thought Provoking
Revisado: 04-12-20
I didn't agree with everything in here but overall the audio presentation with actual interviews played and the data break down was outstanding. I do wish at the end he had broken down how we can better talk to strangers. I wish this was required reading for everyone in the Justice system. I think Ott would spare a lot of heartache that basically is caused by not knowing how to truly read strangers. I highly recommend it. Enjoyable to listen to and thought provoking for sure.

Join the conversation as a father and son talk about pursuing beauty, dealing with money, getting married, chasing dreams, knowing something real with God, and how to find a life you can call your own. Killing Lions is more than fatherly advice. It is an invitation into a journey: either to be the son who receives fathering or the father who learns what must be spoken. Most important, these conversations speak to a searching generation: "You are not alone. Its not all up to you. You are going to find your way."

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

INCREDIBLE PROFOUND
Revisado: 03-04-15
Everyone told me to read this, so I finally did and wow! I really enjoyed the narrator as well. The story is so powerful and as a Christian I find it awesome and amazing how God changed this man's life and so many because if him. So well written! You are immersed into each scene in such vivid clarity and feel the pain, joy...full emotion add the story unfolds. The journey of a man's life and the rippling effects of knowing he could survive anything and survived more than most will ever imagine in their nightmares.
I strongly recommend this for anyone looking for hope, encouragement...perspective. It is a deep and moving story that the movie shamefully missed the heartbeat of.

FOR ME? FAIL! Girls will love it!
Revisado: 07-20-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I'm a HUGE Frank Peretti fan so when I heard this was out, first long trip this was getting listen to for sure. I was wildly disappointed and discouraged even. Has Frank spent too much time with Dekker? Me thinks so. I think girls will love this book as for me, it was painful to listen to, long and boring and the conclusion was disappointing. I thought at least if I made it to the end it would be good but he failed big time in accomplishing his "six sense" story, I had it figured out long before and the twisted craziness you can get all day long from Ted Dekker. I'm wondering where the Frank Peretti of This Present Darkness is? Where is the Christian writer writing with a mission to bring to life the Bible and Christian life with words? Where is the one that tells a great story but also leaves me hungry for God and desiring to be a bolder, more Christ like, prayer warrior...???
What could Frank Peretti have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
He needs to go back to his first 3 books and wounded spirit speech and ask why they were so huge, why they moved people so much... back to stories that reach the soul of men and women and cause them to want to rise up, want to be closer to God, stronger in their faith
What does Frank Peretti bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nothing
Did Illusion inspire you to do anything?
NO
Any additional comments?
Please Mr Peretti, please come back to us, get back in the Word, find whatever it was and draw close to God that you might through fiction lead us through a great story but also one that speaks to our soul, to what we know will come or is there. That causes us to want to remember who we are as Christ followers. Please!

EVERY Father should make it his goal in life...
Revisado: 07-20-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Every Father of a Daughter should make it his goal in life to read this book. WOW! I'm not a father yet but I am a man and I am trusting God for a family one day soon. I want to be prepared and Dave Ramsey highly recommended this book so I read it. I've since given it out to several people. It is a powerful book and because it's written by a women about women/girls, it really helped me understand the way they think a little more, at least in terms of how they perceive their Dad, men, and how they really feel even though often their words are farthest from it... Please read, please know it will impact your family and generations to come if you do with great blessings. Some of the content is hard to read and hear... hard to believe and hard to take in, but if you can open your eyes you can then be aware and with awareness you can reach out and FIGHT for her, be her warrior that she needs even when she is screaming against you.
What insight do you think you’ll apply from Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters?
WOW too many things to mention here... Mostly I learned how to listen better and actually hear better what the girls in my life are saying when they speak. Also how to approach them and love them better, deeper, with greater understanding and love.
Any additional comments?
Thanks Meg and Dave, great book! Life changer!

If we follow Christ, we're not supposed to be like everyone else. We’re supposed to be a little bit…well, weird. The whole point of Christianity is to become more like Jesus and less of who we are when left to our own devices and desires—to become less like the rest of the world, less normal.

I turned it off...
Revisado: 07-20-12
What would have made WEIRD better?
I listen and read a lot of books but I couldn't continue with this one even though it came highly recommended. As a Christian I am really always weighing stuff out with the Bible and just a short ways in there were too many times I said "that isn't true, that isn't in the Bible, that is scriptural, that he is twisting..." I feel like there is a movement going on where thousands and millions go to church every Sunday, rock out, hear a sweet little message and then live like the world and call themselves Christian. The HOLY BIBLE teaches nothing of that. I know so many people kids to adults that do and live like the world, even to the point of affairs, living together, sex before marriage, drinking, drugs, and then call themselves Christians and go to church on Sunday. The Devil has sold a lie and we measure success by worldly standards so we think these mega churches are successful, right? Some are, some are truly preaching, teaching and speaking God's word and changing lives and their members are living godly lives, they are convicted and uncomfortable, they grow more like Christ... but most of them are only seeming to be successful and are more like businesses, make you feel good, get a dime, have a good week, but nothing deep, soul deep, Holy Spirit deep is happening, they come in with their sin and leave with it without any prick to their soul... Just a caution.

WOW WOW WOW!!! READ THIS TODAY!!!
Revisado: 07-20-12
What did you love best about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People?
I had just finished this a few days before hearing of Dr Covey's death on July 16, 2012. Broke my heart and I felt cheated (selfishly) because I didn't get a chance to follow his tweets, take one of his courses, go to one of his lectures, here him speak... I was so glad that he read this book himself.
You will feel like your sitting on the floor looking up at someone who has much wisdom to offer. You will also find this book is so deep that you will need to read it several times to grasp the gold inside. I am amazed at how I just simply think about things differently and how my perception changed from things that now seem like "of course" I should have known that.
Please put this at the top of your list, this is a MUST READ for any human alive and kicking. There is also one for Teens and Children. I wish I had read this as a kid and a teen and now as an adult, it would be my 3rd dose at least and wow, how powerful would that have been.
What did you like best about this story?
7 Habits are so Powerful, Common Sense and yet deep deep. I am changed and better for reading this book, I believe.
Have you listened to any of Stephen R. Covey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I certainly will now.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed and cried several times through out the book
Any additional comments?
My prayers are with Dr Covey's family and friends. Thank you for using your life to bless mine and millions of others.

Wish He Had Gone Deeper, but Really Good
Revisado: 07-20-12
If you could sum up He-Motions in three words, what would they be?
I felt like he touched on a lot of stuff but didn't explore it and go deep enough like I would have liked. I really was hoping after it was over, that there was more. It felt like the entire book nearly was an introduction and we were going to get to the answers, reveal some stuff that I'm searching for answers to, but it just ended. I do recommend, with that said, that men read it. You will gain and benefit a lot from it!
What other book might you compare He-Motions to and why?
Point Man, King Me, Way of the Wild Heart, Wild at Heart

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I read a lot of books and someone highly recommended this but I didn't find a lot of content and wouldn't read or listen to it again. It is really short, so it doesn't waste a lot of your time.
