This is a great story told well by author Frank Mason. I will definitely read more by this author. I will never buy an audio book that is narrated by "Virtual Voice" again.

Good story bad narrator
Revisado: 06-16-21
Very good story read by a refugee from the walking dead. Perhaps someone could buy him a couple of shots of espresso or poke him in the butt with a pin. This would be a great audiobook if you are suffering from insomnia. He puts me to sleep while I am mowing the lawn.

Ok But
Revisado: 04-06-18
The technical mistakes make this otherwise good story less interesting. A semiautomatic Glock will only fire one round if the trigger is held back. Poor research not artistic license. I find it frustrating when characters portrayed as highly competent repeatedly make silly mistakes. Dick Hill is one of my favorite narrators but, the synthesized voice was pretty much unintelligible. Good story made bad by poor research, poor character development and production.

Revisado: 09-04-17
This is a great story and the series is a excellent. However this is the first time I have listened to one. The narrator is s absolutely terrible. His voice does not fit the story or the characters and he does not know how to pronounce many of the technical terms. Don't listen read it.

Michael Kramer's narration just not get there. He sounds like he should be narrating a Mickey Spillane novel. This may not be David Baldacci's best book but it is a good story.

Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Narrated in undertones way boring...
Revisado: 02-22-13
Warning: Do not listen to this book while driving or operating heavy equipment!
I have listened to 4 hours of this book. So far the story is transparent going from one tragic event to another with contrived escapes by the heroes. OK I'm just killing time until something better comes along. But I do not know if I can finish it, Peter Hermann reads in an undertone that puts my mind to sleep. We have an action adventure that is narrated by what sounds like a drugged out engineer reading an accountant's synopsis of an annual report from a funeral home.

Historia
Among the most self-assured and sharply crafted debuts in recent years, Calumet City detonates a Molotov cocktail of character-driven suspense and ghetto-Chicago intrigue. A powerful fiction debut that captures the precise emotional landscape of one cop's hard-bitten life in the trenches. This first-time author joins that rare breed whose fiction is suffused with profound authenticity.

Get a new Technical advisor on Police
Revisado: 04-26-12
What disappointed you about Calumet City?
These officers have so much baggage they could not get hired by a Columbian Police Department.
What was most disappointing about Charlie Newton???s story?
First person narrative that dwell on the minutia is wearing.
What didn???t you like about Eliza Foss???s performance?
Way too dramatic for the subject and location.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Calumet City?
Rewrite the entire scen on Ronnies mothers pourch. Running through the cemetary at night having flashbacks of her previous life.
Any additional comments?
I know that police departments have had to lower their hiring standards but it seems that almost everyone one of these characters have issues that would prohibit them from being certified as police officers in Illinois. While Chicago PD has problems the majority of the officers are squired away professionals not dangerous mental cases. If Officer Black could have somehow gotten hired after all the stuff in her background she would never have lasted 17 years on the street in any major police department. Why can???t authors make normal people be cops that are interesting heroes?
