Wrestling suffered wounds it might never heal in the 90s, and this book tells in great detail WCWs contribution to that. Hulk Hogan, Vince Russo, Kevin Nash, and Eric Bischof do not come out looking very good under the writers' microscope. Alvarez gives a fantastic reading.

oof. Crichton has a type

No lovable characters really, but lots of high adventure and big ideas... sandwiched between what are effectively wiki articles on topics he found interesting. A lot of detail that doesn't mesh well with the narrative for me. performance was great. Fun story, rubbish ending, and a lot of filler. If you liked Jurassic Park's presentation you'll find this palatable enough to enjoy.

An amazing adaptation

This series takes something rooted in it's debut medium and adapts it to radio drama format with ease and excitement. The performances are wonderful, and the stories are a true joy. It's pretty meta to see Gaiman's stories continue to evolve and grow fresh legs. Dare I say this version is my favorite?

The story is shocking & fun, even if overtold

The park is becoming a topic du jour in post 2010 internet culture. do many YouTube, blogs, and podcasts already cover most of what's here, but to hear it from the inside is pretty interesting. My adult brain waivers between awe and disgust that such a reckless place existed, with the author half apologizing, half justifying the chaos as just another eccentric American dream.

top both performance, great book

outstanding look at the corruption many of us always suspect is at play, and at work, against the common citizen. the narrator was fantastic. the book itself is both tabloid and enlightening. if you enjoyed Wiseguy, this is the lawyer version of that tale.

early 80s throwaway horror / sci fi with just 3nough big ideas that it has endured. the gothic touch is the best part, but it's stuck in so many 80s manga/anime/comic tropes it's ludicrous at times. very tell don't show. however, it's a fantastic world, sort of a Castlevania meets Elric situation. no complaints about the audiobook, but know that going in that this piece is as much 80s B movie as it is brooding gothic horror.

another great performance

My father was a fan of frontier and old west, and i had heard the skeleton of the Glass story. Punke is an incredible writer, the book often sounding like creative nonfiction but always with a literary structure. I found the ending satisfying in that he fought the urge to indulge in a fictional clash of blood and guts to right the scales of justice. The performer was incredible. The way he puts agony and effort into Glass' spoken lines was immersive and powerful. Such a great audio experience.

I enjoyed this much more than Jurassic Park, but to be fair I already had the best bits of the original spoiled by the film. Lost World on the other hand is terrifically different than it's related film, and works as an adventure novel on a level JP did not. Sure there's a little tech-babble and preachiness but nowhere near the amount in JP. For a reluctant follow up, Lost World is a thrilling slow burn that ignites in the third act.

far superior to WWZ

I found myself engaged throughout this book, not oy because of the outstanding cast, but because the arc of the story was tremendously better than World War Z's. Characters I found grating and cartoony at the beginning grew and became beloved by the end. It wasn't a perfect book by any means but it was a fun, captivating, and exhilarating ride.

A wonderful story of masculinity of various flavors vs nature, self, and others. Lots to chew on and a truly fascinating exercise in situational ethics. Probably my favorite performance on any audiobook yet too.
