I dont know what i was expecting but gross

Im all for horror and unease but just not in the way this author did it. Personally i feel like i just cant get along with anyone enjoys this story but to each their own. Maybe im missing something. I gave it a try because tiktok strongly recommended it and i read the trigger warnings. I should have looked up what everyone meant by *that* scene and i probably would have realized before i bought it that it wasnt going to be for me. I deeply regret my chocie. Its really my own fault for continuously going into books blind.

Perfect cozy read

Such a cozy, feel good read. One of the most inviting books I've listened to in a while. I love the magical world and the whimsical creatures the author has created. Which was described gorgeously. I loved her sentient plant friends. I wasn't a big fan of the mc. She redeemed herself about half way through so it really didn't matter. Definitely a great comfort read

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I like almost everything about this book. The pacing, the characters, the descriptions, balance between creepy and funny. I loved Kara. I loved her relationships to the other characters, including Beau ofc. I loved how there was so much more to this inbetween world than expected.
There are only 2 things I dislike.
1. How often Kara brought up being a digital designer. It got annoying by the 4th time. We get it, you notice small details .
2. THE STRESS OVER THAT DAMN CAT. I spent half of my time screaming for her to get her cat out of the home.
Overall I adored this book. The balance was perfect for me. It wasn't too intense but it never dragged on either

Hidden gem, incredible narration!

It was a nice story, but the first half really dragged on. It took several tries to listen to some chapters just because nothing interesting was happening and I'd forget to pay attention. I really only enjoyed the POV of the octopus until about 2/3 of the way through the book. After that I was fully engaged. The ending was very satisfying too. It's a good story, just nothing overly special.

This isn't just dark romance this is straight rape and torture porn and I don't recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy relationship with your sex life. it's full of triggers and romantizes rape and abuse which i personally find disgusting. but the writing and narrating were objectively good.
