Follow Ruth through a rip-roaring, hilarious decade of not quite making it as a supermodel. Fueled by little more than cigarettes and the stress of her spiraling debt she crisscrosses the world in pursuit of fame and fortune. But how far is she willing to go for this wildly unrealistic dream?

How have I not heard of her before?? She is hilarious! Her stories are entertaining already but the way she writes them! Shes got a gift. And her narrating is so effortlessly comedic. I think I would be happy listening to her read me appliance instructions. Loved this book so much and all the lols I had during it. Will definitely be looking for all other writings of hers online.

Historia
Liz Murray was born to loving but drug-addicted parents in the Bronx. In school she was taunted for her dirty clothing and lice-infested hair, eventually skipping so many classes that she was put into a girls' home. At age 15, Liz found herself on the streets when her family finally unraveled. She learned to scrape by, foraging for food and riding subways all night to have a warm place to sleep. Then, when Liz's mother died of AIDS, she decided to take control of her own destiny.

Heartbreaking and wonderful
Revisado: 08-06-18
This memoir is now definitely a favorite. What strength and motivation and courage Liz had and continues to have. It was so incredibly difficult to try to fathom what she went through but she recreates it so well and with such honesty that not only do you have no problem imagining her story but are transported right there with her. It really was an emotional rollercoaster, as they say. And her writing! It was clear and flowing, filled with emotion, feeling. Wonderful!!
