Ripped from my mates. Taken by an evil who has it out for us all. And it’s all I can do to hold on, just hoping that they will find me before it’s too late. Because I’m in the clutches of someone who only wants one thing…power. Power that only I can give them. And I’m a second away from breaking.

No growth
Revisado: 09-20-24
I can honestly say this series was one of my most anticipated reads this year, and it did disappoint. I did end up DNF this book 2 hours before finishing it, so about 75% in. Why? major spoilers down below.
There was absolutely no growth to the FMC through these books. She wad a total pick me, wanting to insert herself in all of her mates lives, even when they needed to just cool off. She did not respect their autonomy, and in my opinion. emotionally manipulated the others to then go and argue with said mates when they didn't let her be the center of the universe. I found her especially childish around her professor mate, that realistically maybe needed some time to get through having such a young mate - and it was his student.
Further, why are there dragons in this series? Because nothing in this series make that an important factor, except that the FMC is "the special one". When they describe the dragons, they make it seem the dragons inside have an autonomous self, that also can take over and make them go feral. But when they actually shift, they act 1. as big golden retrievers, and 2. with no thought or personality of their own. The human part is the one that thinks, communicates and does everything when in dragon form. So what is this feral side? it makes no sense at all. And they do not exhibit any dragon traits of lore - which isn't a must, but when you add dragons into your book, why not actually use that in your writing? They could have easier been wolf shifter, which also would let the mates save the day when of course- the FMC gets kidnapped. But because they are dragons, they can't for some reason. So the wolves save the day. Honestly, I think the author have seen that dragons sell, and therefore put dragons in the story.
I read much longer than I thought I would in this series, because I really wanted to give it a chance, and so many people rave about the series. Now I don't understand why. I give it two stars, mostly because there were some good moments earlier in the series, and it is to some degree entertaining, I wouldn't have gotten to the last book if it weren't. But I would not reccomend this book to a friend.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 12-13-23
I so wanted to love this series, and have seen a lot of hype around it. But it just didn't hit me right. It is well written and all that, but I didn't feel the characters. DNF around 80% finished. Not to say it is a bad book, it really isnt, just not for me.

Great story!
Revisado: 11-27-23
This is a great story, fast paced and thrilling, only just a little predictable. And it is really great that the author tries to incorporate other cultures than her own, but I have to question who in all of the world proof read what she wrote. It might just be a little thing for most, but the sami people call their lands Sapmi, not sampi. This is important. If you are using another cultures names in books, please get it right. Otherwise it just shoes lack of knowledge.

I love the story, could not put it down! It had a very interesting magic system, and the characters are very multidimensional! Hope we don't have to wait long for the next book.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Enjoyed it!
Revisado: 11-17-22
Really enjoyed thus story, but being scandinavian, I cringed every time the wonderful Stina Nielsen unfortunately butchered the nordic names/words - not that I hold it against her, not her fault. And it seemed Andrews may have googled some nordic words and haven't really understood them, like "Kvinna". I guess she have searched "Lady", and gotten this word, but in our tongue it is just a word for a woman, not a pretty title. So listening to the audio, it both seems like the author don't know the proper meaning of the word(this happens both in this and other books, with this and other nordic words), and kind of an insult thrown at all people being called this in the book. Like "Woman Elise". Would recommend the author should have consulted a Scandinavian before using the nordic words, but also, only a native speaker would pick up on it. All in all, a fun read!

Repetitive
Revisado: 04-11-22
I have always loved this series, and remember reading book 1-3 many times. Something in me always stopped there, but with the audiobooks, I continued. Books 4-6 is very repetitive, and there have been segments I have jumped forward a lot. in-between the repetitive segments, where we get "new story", the story is excellent. But it takes away somewhat that old parts of the story drones on like that. You could really read books 1-3, and 6. I was also a bit disappointed that the really interesting part came so late in this book, and instead of going into it, it felt rushed. But it feels good to have a conclusion. If I ever read again, I'll go back to book 1-3, and just remember the later parts.

This book is absolutely a great follow up to book 1, and the storyline is very entertaining, if not sometimes a little bit to easy to guess. But the cliff hanger will haunt me until the next book is published!
