A Bittersweet Goodbye with the Perfect End
Revisado: 10-26-18
I have loved this series since I started it. It is a favorite listen of mine as well. It was with a heavy heart I began this final part of the series. I know it is time to move on but I will miss this group. The story was as good a book as the rest of the series. We see all of the threads that had been left out there being wrapped up. Miki's past is revealed and we see the perfect end, well I hate to say end because these two you know will pop up somewhere again but goodbye for now, to Miki and Kane's love story. Also of significance is Miki going to therapy to help him at last deal with all he had been through and what he had going on through out the story line. Miki is changing but keeping his core true to the Miki we all know and love.
This author has done a tremendous job on this series and paired it with the perfect narrator for it. For me this completes another of her series that is a joy to read over and over and never regret hearing again. I look forward to more from the author and hope to keep getting peeks back to these men and the family to which they all belong.

Starts Well and Then Fizzles
Revisado: 08-06-18
Loved the first part of the book. The action and unknown of the beginning of the story. Unlike others I enjoyed the flashbacks. I thought the format and story line was excellent. Then the guys get back and it really became boring. I didn't enjoy the story line from there. I get it but it was like two different books put together. I didn't feel like the two parts flowed well together. Also the change in character for Ben was too much. It just didn't fit. The flow of the relationship just didn't work in this second part.
I am just not sure about this series at all. I haven't enjoyed it as much as I had hoped. Still, I'm trying to keep going with the series. I keep hoping each book will be the one that breaks the 3.5 barrier.

A Different Twist on the True Crime Drama
Revisado: 06-12-18
This is all about an killer that never went to trial. Technically that makes him a supposed killer but, let's face it, he made sure he couldn't be. Anyway, it was a good way to tell the story. I did find it a touch confusing. I wish that the timeline and characters were a little more defined.
This was still an interesting take on the story and told the tale of this mysterious killer.

Garrett was at his breaking point. There were only so many times in a week you should have to see someone you were...attracted to...infatuated with...but certainly didn’t have a crush on. Doms didn’t have those. Especially on a customer who probably wasn’t even gay, much less a sub. Business 101 - do not flirt with a client. Wyatt was losing his mind. Hiding his obsession was getting harder and harder. All he wanted to do was kneel in front of Garrett and call him Master. But the sexy insurance agent never seemed to see him.

Sweet and Easy
Revisado: 02-12-18
This isn't a book for everyone. This is a sweet, light on the BDSM, romance book with no true conflict. It is fairly easy and simple book with little depth. But I quite enjoyed the characters and a peek into an aspect of BDSM and if it was more widely accepted.
I listened to the audio of this book and the narrator made for a nice listen. I loved his deep voice for Garrett. He had a sweet voice for Wyatt. Some of the other character voices were a little confusing but it was a short read so there was little time to get use to any of the other characters.
If you are looking for a sweet "comfort" read, this is a good book. Easy on the emotions and leaving you with a sweet little feeling.

Liked it Better in Ebook
Revisado: 11-04-17
I read this as an ebook several years ago and quite enjoyed it. This time listening to it didn't work for me. The narration made it hard to keep up with what was going on. Also I couldn't always tell if someone was talking or not. The narrator didn't really do much for the characters.

Love this Series
Revisado: 07-03-17
I absolutely fell in love with Kai in the first book. Not much has changed for me in regards to this character. I enjoyed the story now with a little more knowledge of the world around Kai. But just like the reader Kai and his compatriots are still learning about their world. This newest adventure sees Kai and Ryder get closer to that relationship that you could see developing in the first book. Also there was a glimpse into Kai's origins. Kai is a fascinating character as is Ryder. The two men are very different and fit so well. The author isn't concentrating on that relationship though in the books, it is a side plot. Kai is the story. He gives us a look into this messed up world in which he lives.
I commend the author in the descriptions of the world in the story. The wording used to give us a view is well scripted. It almost edges into a too wordy description but manages, for me at least, to hang just on the edge and give me a wonderful, awe-inspiring look into the imaged world that the author has created. The growth of the characters is evident and intriguing. The plot line though insane is really gripping.
I totally enjoyed this book and soooo look forward to the next adventure into Kai's world.
Re-read: Still the same. I listened to this on audio before but will now add thoughts on the narrator. He is AWESOME. I love how he puts in the slight accent to make Kai's speech slightly different and the same with Ryder. This narrator has always done an amazing job on the books he reads. He adds a lot of depth and richness to the characters.

Wonerful Book with Good Narration
Revisado: 06-29-17
I have read this book before I listened to the audio version. This is what I wrote on the book then:
"Took me a while to finish this but it was life:( Anyway the characters were well thought out and made you see them as real. The only trouble I had was the dom was a little too "perfect". I really enjoyed seeing them meet and finding their way through their own pasts to make a new relationship based on trust work. The humor in the "fantasy" scenes struck a very realistic cord and made the characters more approachable. I look forward to the rest of the series."
I gave it the full 5 stars then (2011). I still think that the author did a fantastic job with the characters in the story, I think as for the story itself I understood it a little more and appreciate it more now than then. I believe the author did wonders in giving the readers a look at one of the ways a D's relationship works. The author also lets it be know that it isn't the only way or the only "right" way. Each relationship works different. Also I think she shows that the relationship formed from this is an extremely tight and personal one when it exists.
Since this is a series the ending is left a little open but it could be the only book read in the series and it would leave the reader with the ability to feel like if this was the end it would be okay.
Now the narration...well this I feel I needed to take a little off for. The narrator did wonderfully with making distinct voices but the tonal quality came off as flat...the same cadence throughout. It made it sound a little bit monotone. It is really hard to describe but it made the story lack a bit of emotion that would have connected me more to the story.
Still this is worth the listen. I quite enjoyed it and even with the narration not being quite what I would have liked.

Needed More
Revisado: 06-27-17
Would you try another book from Isobel Starling and/or Gary Furlong?
I would. I think the author needs to mature some though. The narrator did a wonderful job with the story.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I didn't really like it. It felt abrupt and quickly done.
Do you think As You Wish needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Yes, the ending left a lot undone.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the story itself. I really felt this story had a good concept and plot but it felt so shallow. The author just didn't give us enough of the characters themselves. It left me with little connection to the characters. The ending was a bit abrupt. There are too many strands left hanging.
Even with all of that I quite enjoyed the build up in the story. I wanted more but I did love these characters together. I wanted to connected with them (even though I didn't). Now the narrator really added a level to this story. I don't know if I would have enjoyed the story so much as a written tale.

Good MPreg Story
Revisado: 05-31-17
Any additional comments?
I have never read any books by this author before. It was interesting to see what style of writing this contained. I have to say it is a light style. I didn't like the whole no communication/miscommunication issue that occurs. Also the whole deal with the crisis at the end of the story is a little too easy to see coming.
Still I do enjoy lighter stories on occasion and the overall story wasn't bad at all. I think it is a book that most will either really like or really hate. There seems to be little compromise on that. I thought the story was a fun read that will agree with people looking for a lighter, "sweet" romance. I am interested in where the author will go with the series.
The narrator was really good. He has always done a good job with bringing life to the story and voice to the characters. He is an enjoyable listen.

A Respectful Approach to a Hard Subject
Revisado: 05-30-17
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I felt that the beginning of the book seemed to lead off in many directions and then jerk back to another point. I found myself lost due to that.
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
The way that the courts work murder cases, especially for that time in Colorado. I also got a glimpse into the victims' family and friends dealing with these cases and the aftermath of their loved ones death.
Any additional comments?
Although I had difficulty at the beginning of the book the whole book was not that way. I thought the author did a wonderful job of showing the family's grief and how that was compounded by the search for "justice". I may not share all of this author's beliefs but I was impressed with how he went about showing the good and bad of this case while being respectful of the beliefs of others. These cases are hard on anyone who tries to understand them and I can respect and admire his abilities in attempting to shine the light on this case.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
