Have I read this before.
Revisado: 02-14-25
It’s like sleeping giants + contact, but less sci-fi. I liked the ending, but can’t imagine the sequel being better unless it is radically different. I don’t think I needed the book to exist, but my sister might really enjoy it because she doesn’t like sci-fi as much.

It has been two years since the events in Shantaram, and since Lin lost two people he had come to love: his father figure, Khaderbhai, and his soul mate, Karla, married to a handsome Indian media tycoon. Lin returns from a smuggling trip to a city that seems to have changed too much, too soon. Many of his old friends are long gone, the new mafia leadership has become entangled in increasingly violent and dangerous intrigues, and a fabled holy man challenges everything that Lin thought he'd learned about love and life.

This is hard to listen to.
Revisado: 04-15-24
This audio book is incredibly boring. The author has a real Jackofalltrades thing going, which provides no perspectives of interest from many angles. If a friend handed me one of these stories, I’d tell them to keep their day job.

Historia
Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World, the almost timeless landscape that seems to stretch from the wreckage of civility that defined Roland's youth to the crimson chaos that seems the future's only promise. Followers of Stephen King's epic series know Roland well, or as well as this enigmatic hero can be known. They also know the companions who have been drawn to his quest for the Dark Tower: Eddie Dean and his wife, Susannah; Jake Chambers; and Oy.

Boring at best.
Revisado: 03-14-24
If it’s not boring.. it’s ego centric, shallow, opportunistic, hypocritical, and shallow. I don’t want to put down what is essentially a beautiful conclusion to someone’s life but some things are better unsaid. I would recommend this book to the young or undeveloped, however, I would recommend they purchase it from a used book store for $1 not $9 and change. Further, I would recommend the skip and speed read as there is limited variety in content. I truly believe Morrie would have been an amazing person to know, he and his loved ones should be proud of his life and his candor in the face of the great beyond. God rest you Morris Schwartz.
I leave this listen very skeptical of Mitch Albom, some whom’s others works I had previously appreciated. He is now a grain short of honesty from garnering my trust.

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

I didn’t need a second one
Revisado: 08-11-23
This is not a sequel, it’s a continuation of the last book. It lacks tension, there is no “Lovecraft” in this book, it’s episodic. I feel taken advantage of. The author has capitalized on my familiarity with the characters and not delivered a story of interest.

Historia
It is said that Lord Dunsany wrote his stories with a handmade quill in a single draft, and The King of Elfland’s Daughter is widely regarded as one of his greatest works. A fantasy classic which has influenced some of the most popular fantasy writers of all time, including J. R. R. Tolkien and Neil Gaiman, and one of the landmark pre-Tolkien fantasy stories written. It is noteworthy not only for its poetic literature and picturesque imagery, but also its exploration of Elfland, a land of fancy, immortality, and forbidden love.
