Historia
The Light Eaters is a deep immersion into the drama of green life and the complexity of this wild and awe-inspiring world that challenges our very understanding of agency, consciousness, and intelligence. In looking closely, we see that plants, rather than imitate human intelligence, have perhaps formed a parallel system.

Historia
Atrial fibrillation strikes one in four American adults. Not only do people suffering from this condition suffer from shortness of breath, fatigue, chest discomfort, decreased ability to exercise and do activities of daily living, arrhythmia, and palpitations, but their risk of a stroke, cognitive decline and dementia, heart failure, or premature death also shoots way up. Today, a whole new body of research - one most physicians are unaware of - shows that biomarker and lifestyle optimization may put half the cases of atrial fibrillation into remission without drugs or procedures.

Wonderfully connected! Disconnected narration...
Revisado: 03-15-22
The cadence and inflection of how the book was read was a mismatch. The narrator consistantly mispronounced Lakota words, and scientific terms... They seemed unprepared reading this very personal story. I ended up purchasing a copy of "Thus Spoke the Plant" so I could hear and reference the Author's words and cadence myself.

Historia
When Chris McDougall agreed to take in a donkey from an animal hoarder, he thought it would be no harder than the rest of the adjustments he and his family had made after moving from Philadelphia to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. But when he arrived, Sherman was in such bad shape he could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. Chris decided to undertake a radical rehabilitation program designed not only to heal Sherman's body but to heal his mind as well - and so Chris decided to teach Sherman how to run.

A human animal to animal connection
Revisado: 03-01-21
I listened to "Running with Sherman" on any device I could link to when I wasn't running (not on headphones while running but on this totally non-obtrusive 39 gram device called the 39g by Noxgear). - Running alone (with Marley my dog) I am laughing mao and crying (really) as I run our glacial roads here in Wisconsin. A note to fellow runners or not - I bet you'll love this book as Chris McDougall weaves his tale through the eyes of the eyes that cannot speak, but who can through movement of the world around them... They teach their understanding of us...
Got the paperback first as a present from some friends in PA. Much of it takes place there and in Leadville, CO. Could not put it down so purchased the Audible version... McDougall narrates!
I thank him for this wonderful connection of human animal to other animal understanding and experiential learning.
Thank you, Chris, for writing about your love of Sherman, your family and the important people around you!

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Revisado: 11-28-19
This is one of the best books I've ever listened to. I am going to purchase 2 copies of this book as soon I complete this review - one as a gift and one for me. This book is so important in how it will and does inform the world's sustainability leaders, educators, learners, and future students. It will develop into an important resource for my own doctoral studies and research in Educational Sustainability. I will be contacting Steve Schein asap. Thank you for publishing this book. VA

Historia
Visionary physicist Geoffrey West is a pioneer in the field of complexity science, the science of emergent systems and networks. The term complexity can be misleading, however, because what makes West's discoveries so beautiful is that he has found an underlying simplicity that unites the seemingly complex and diverse phenomena of living systems, including our bodies, our cities, and our businesses.
