Fantastic Bundle, great mix of action and romance
Revisado: 03-01-25
First of all, I noticed several reviews mention a missing story from this audiobook bundle, which was not the case for me- all the stories are present. That said, this was an absolute steal of a bundle. If you like cop action stories with plenty of steamy romance and genuine, three dimensional characters, these are perfect for you. There are some characters that carry over from the phenomenal Locke and Key series, but it isn't nessesary to read those first- just a few familiar faces. Great job Aimee Nicole Walker, another home run. Narration fantastic as always.

Ends on a Cliffhanger
Revisado: 02-12-25
I don't mind books that end on cliffhangers. but I generally like to know before hand so I'm not disappointed. I probably would have waited to purchase until the series was out, but the short length should've been my first clue. I started to read this book a few months ago, got two chapters in, and stopped because it felt dumb. I will admit to enjoying the himbo act much more in the audio version, though. All in all, it's a decent little shifter story in a teeny bite sized format. Cute story, annoying way to release it, but I'll still get book 2 when it comes out on audible.

Not Charlie's Best Work
Revisado: 06-11-24
I'm not gonna lie, I looove me some series with a large group of returning characters. Getting to know each and every couple's love story and background is fun, and adds depth to the characters and their relationships. Although I thoroughly enjoyed Saint and Vals relationship, the "action" portion of this story was bananas. It's like the author didn't bother to add a "villan" until she was nearly finished with the book, and just made up something completely random to give us that little splash of "oh no, will our action heros prevail against the big baddies?!" that Cochet is known for. Kinda a bummer. But if you're like me and and simply must see a series through to the end, at least the romance is enjoyable. Narration was great, like always. Someone tell Greg that's not how southerners sound, every time he does Mason or Raidens accent I want to cry. Love you, Greg.

Historia
I never thought moving to the quiet little town of Prosper Woods, California, would be such an adventure. When I quit my detective job at the LAPD and moved north to the gorgeous sequoia forests, the last thing I expected was to learn something about myself that had apparently been passed down through generations, but here I am, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Then again, this is where my heart lives, and the moment he dropped fang had my hindquarters tingling.

Nice Idea, Poor Execution

Nice Idea, Poor Execution
Revisado: 02-12-23
First of all, the "letters to the editor" that every chapter starts with were nonsensical and served only to jerk me out of the story each time. Secondly, there are so many loose threads left in each book, like the author changed where the story was going, but didn't bother to go back and edit what she'd already put down. The tale could have been way more enjoyable if each book followed a different couple, with Rome and Vincent coming in to keep their storyline going. There was a lot of missed potential by rewriting the same love scenes between the two MCs. Too much of the writing in these books felt like the author was just trying to up the word count. We have to listen as a scene happens, then listen several more times as an MC describes the exact same scene to another character. The general premise of Prosper Woods was good, it just felt like the author really slapped something together in one go and didn't bother to go back and take out the irrelevant nonsense that had no bearing to the story or didn't move the tale along.

Historia
The truth is, I'm an admin assistant who applied for a job that sounded kind of interesting and ended up working for the Community of Species Government. I'm the only human in the office, and basically I ride herd on a team of rambunctious shifters and demons. I also spend a lot of time avoiding Gideon Bailey, the demon I had a one-night stand with right before I took this job. He hates me, and I really want to avoid being murdered. But I've been offered a promotion that will mean working with him, so we're both going to have to get over it

Rushed Ending, Fun Listen
Revisado: 08-05-22
First of all, this story was a very fun and entertaining listen. My favorite scene in the book has to do with out MC accidentally getting drunk in front of some very important people, and between Joel Leslie's superb performance and the authors humor I was laughing so hard that I had to stop what I was doing and wipe away tears. Leslie is a master at his craft, and continues to improve every time I hear a new performance from him. My biggest complaint with this book is that we go 90% of the story with a buildup of a possible relationship between the MC and another character, and then in the end the actual solidification of their romance is paraphrased in a few sentences like an afterthought. It was extremely disappointing and kind of left me feeling let down, truth be told. The pacing for the story was generally on point until the last few chapters when the ending was smooshed together haphazardly. I plan on finishing this series, and hopefully our author brings the next MCs romance to a more satisfying climax.

Unexpected Gem
Revisado: 07-02-22
Coming Out on Top left me pleasantly surprised. What could easily have been a shallow GFY trope was a wonderfully hearting and and meaningful tale of finding love and acceptance when you least expect it. Phoenix is fantastic at creating characters with depth and true emotions, and she really nailed it this time- especially with Augustus (Mack). I loved how the two MCs started falling for eachother right from the beginning. There was no false angst or "I can't possibly be having feelings for another man" panic, which I genuinely appreciated. There is a mild BDSM-like element to their developing relationship, although not enough to consider this a BDSM romance type story. The steamy scenes were off the charts and extremely well written, as per usual for Phoenix. Obi did a solid job with the narration, especially considering the heavy speech impediment he managed to work with. All in all, this book was a pleasure to listen to and left me with all the good feels!

Sweet, Relaxing Story
Revisado: 01-06-22
This was a very sweet and romantic story. with little to no angst. I absolutely LOVE how ANW has created such complex, three dimensional men. One main character is a 26 year old virgin living with his mother and grandmother, and the other man is a reserved scientist who suffers from tourettes (as in the twitching kind, not the randomly cursing variety). It's fantastic that she has helped to normalize the syndrome, thought the story actually contains no episodes. Anywhooo, I only have two negatives about this story. Firstly, I like more sex. There are only 2 good sex scenes. What can I say, I'm a sappy housewife. Secondly, Tristan James is no one's favorite narrator. There's just something about his voice that definitely does not lend itself to multiple hours of listening. If you're looking for a sweet, easy to read, MM romance without too much freakiness, this is a great read.

Life isn't always fair, and that's something that Llewellyn Gardner knows about firsthand. His life was on the fast track until one night of extreme passion changed everything. Now eight years later, he's still living with the aftershocks of that night. Everywhere he turns or runs, there's another reminder. What the hell do you do when you try to drown your demons only to find out they can swim?

CONTENT WARNING!
Revisado: 11-13-21
CONTENT WARNING: this book starts out with an extremely difficult few chapters. If you have any triggers relating to sexual assault or rape, be aware that although there is technically no rape committed, the fallout is very intense and difficult to get through if you have these sensitivities. Moving on- this is one of my favorites from Via. From the (extremely painful) beginning, you're rooting for Lou. Loved how this story ended though. Glad I made it through!

Not Via's Best
Revisado: 11-12-21
First of all, Aiden Snow killed it like always. I could listen to him all day, the man is a master. As for the story, the character of Ty made me extremely uncomfortable. Not because he was raised Muslim and had a strong moral compass. There was just something off about his character and personality that felt very off to me, like he gave me Ted Bundy vibes. I'm sure some readers will love him, to me he is just Via's most awkward character so far. Not my cup of tea.

Oh.. my.. GOD
Revisado: 08-22-21
I am not a good reviewer, so please forgive my attempt to explain to you what this journey did for me. Yes, this was a journey, not a book, not a story. I LIVED through this journey. I was there. I have over 300 titles in my audible collection, and I've listened to them all. This journey started out like many others, and I listened with half my attention while going about my day. Before I knew it, my heart was pounding in my chest along with Lily's. Sometimes I felt like I, too, was in love. Sometimes my fists were clenched and I would realize I was holding my breath. Sometimes I might have teared up, but I'm not admiting that to anyone. The mark of a truly exceptional author is being able to get you completely emotionally involved. Invested. Just as confused, angry, enamored, or hopeful as the character you're following. This journey certainly isn't for everyone. It's so enthralling that you feel as if you're literally wrapped up in the heart breaking chaos of an abusive situation. Love, hate, disgust, hope, utter sorrow and joy. If you are able, I highly recommend that you take this journey. The more we understand what so many of these women go through, the more clearly we can see and understand these victims, the more empathy we can have for these women we don't always understand (and who sometimes don't understand themselves), the better this world of ours will be.
