Historia
April 25, 1986 in Chernobyl was a turning point in world history. The disaster not only changed the world’s perception of nuclear power and the science that spawned it, but also our understanding of the planet’s delicate ecology. With the images of the abandoned homes and playgrounds beyond the barbed wire of the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone, the rusting graveyards of contaminated trucks and helicopters, the farmland lashed with black rain, the event fixed for all time the notion of radiation as an invisible killer.

Historia
It's been said that all great literature boils down to one of two stories—a man takes a journey, or a stranger comes to town. While mystery writers have been successfully using both approaches for generations, there's something undeniably alluring in the nature of a stranger: the uninvited guest, the unacquainted neighbor, the fish out of water. In the newest collection of stories by the Mystery Writers of America, each author weaves a fresh tale surrounding the eerie feeling that comes when a stranger enters our midst, featuring stories by prolific mystery writers.

Overall a good compilation at times predictable.
Revisado: 07-24-24
Any compilation will have high and low spots and individual tastes may very, but I fond some of the content well done while others were either predictable or tedious. overall worth while. I liked 80% and wasn't a fan of the UFO story or the predictability of the dead twins story. Perhaps I'm spoiled by my excess of Stephen King novels?

I have read the whole Jack Logan series, this, in my opinion is the best yet.
Revisado: 11-20-23
This installment was the best written. investigative elements and a smattering of levity add up to a well baked mystery. If you are a fan, I've read them all in order, I suggest you do likewise. Read,i.e. listened to them all plus his other offerings to date. He publishes quite often, although I do go through them quickly.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

A bit of a let down
Revisado: 08-13-21
Written several years after "The Martian", don't expect a repeat in content.
The good, The reading by Ms. Dawson was, perhaps the saving grace of the book.
Not so good, the story was hit and cold. Much was like he was phoning it in, or forced. Is it worth 8 hours of your time, in my opinion, yes, but be patient, the best is toward the end although the ending itself wasn't great. It felt contrived to tee up a sequel.

Not what I expected!
Revisado: 08-01-21
To be clear, I like Val Kilmer and perhaps I've missed the point, but I'm sure he has a wealth of stories from his acting career that would rivet me, and there were some. However, much of the book has a spaced out feeling as if filed by paote. I appreciate his spiritual nature but it lost impact by excess. I understand he had a robust life with regard to romantic interests, but way touch time spent. I get too, he is in great admiration of Marlon Brando but again, his dwelling on that and the film "The Island of Doctor Mauro" was excessive given the film was a dog. On the plus side the reading was superb. In the end I was looking for more insight into the on set recollections of the actor.

On screen, Danny Trejo the actor is a baddie who has been killed at least a hundred times. He’s been shot, stabbed, hanged, chopped up, squished by an elevator, and once, was even melted into a bloody goo. Off screen, he’s a hero beloved by recovery communities and obsessed fans alike. But the real Danny Trejo is much more complicated than the legend.
