Historia
It’s been fifteen years since Claire Calderwood’s sister, Rachel, was brutally murdered in their small hometown in Maine. Claire has finally carved out a life for herself as a homicide detective in Detroit, but the past comes calling when the local police back home ask for her help with a murder eerily similar to Rachel’s. Still haunted by Rachel’s cold case, Claire returns home, hoping to solve the crime and finally put her grief to rest. As she starts investigating, the last thing she needs is tenacious journalist Noah Washington asking questions she’s not ready to answer.

A fantastic read!
Revisado: 03-23-25
Another first for me! I love finding new authors that fill my time with. This was a mind bending exploration of death. The author had me on the edge of my chair more than once. I had no idea who the bad guy was until the end, just the way I like it.
A great read and I’m so ready to jump into the next book!

Historia
A night spent sleeping on dirt and leaves is not how Claire Matchett expected to spend her vacation. She thought this would be a break. A week of hiking and hot tubs with two other couple friends. Then Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road. With no cell reception, the group has no choice but to hike the rest of the way to their hotel. But it turns out the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought. Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost. And as they navigate deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously one by one.

What a read!!!
Revisado: 03-18-25
Holy freaking spit balls!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it will not be the last one. Talk about a wild ride. Just when I thought I had it all sorted; that I knew what was coming and who it was coming from…. I had zero clue! I didn’t see it coming.
I will never look at a simple trip to a hidden woodland getaway the same. I mean…. Six people went in the woods…. But things went sideways, upside down and then exploded in a shock wave of disbelief and astonishment.
Wowza… just wowza. Talk about Intense. Heart pounding. It was unfreaking believable! In the best of ways!

There’s only one rule in the world I come from. Keep our existence a secret. Period. The day my sister broke that rule one too many times, I knew there would be consequences. I expected us to be sent to one of those schools for “troubled” kids - and maybe Daizlei Academy was, in a way. But really, it was far more complicated than that. You see, I thought that world had forgotten me. Forgotten us. For years we were left alone, and one day...we weren’t. It was only when I got there that I remembered the second rule: Trust no one.

A new game is a foot
Revisado: 06-12-23
This is my first Kel Carpenter book and man, what a doozie. I loved the characters. This story is a mishmash of crazy things; exciting things! Supernatural teenagers. Family drama. High school angst. And…. Fighting. Haha.
Selena is a powerful, sort of selfish, out of control girl who doesn’t Lebowski to handle her temper and ability. She’s a bomb waiting to go off. And the academy is her last resort. The last place she may have a chance to get her life under control.
Boxing may be just the outlet she needs to get the building emotions and powers in the bag. And for a time it works. Boxing allows her to work it off. Plus kicking butts is always fun. Add to that a hunky, southern boy, who not only understands her, but tries to help her.
Lucas is her saving grace. Her new best friend and the reason she may walk away from the bad things coming her way. And boy howdy, those troubles are coming in hot with both barres ready to go.
Bring on book 2!

I’m so team Darby!!
Revisado: 02-17-23
Good gravy! Just when you think you know what’s coming… smack. Right in the kisser.
So this is not my first time reading this book but dang, even with that it’s a sucker punch. Mariana O’Shea Adler, is a blight on the world. She’s a pimple on the but cheek that just won’t go away! Ugh.
Darby and her ally’s have been put into a situation that’s hard to judge. To be honest, it’s an onion in your yogurt kind of thing. Add to that Azreal and his cryptic, stank, butt has given Darby a task to find her sister. There’s a whole lot of drama in that statement.
We do get to catch up with the Night Watch, though. Bishop gets himself in hot water with Darby annnnnd the Mariana does what she’s best at. Causing heartache and anger to boil through the whole lot of them.
This was a twisted web of lies, deceit and anger. Most definelty a great read!

Historia
Corpses are vanishing from New Orleans morgues, there’s talk of a sea monster in Lake Pontchartrain, and Hiram Nádasdy is turning the French Quarter upside down in search of a witch with the power to bring the dead back to life. When the director assigns Rue the case, she suspects he’s sending her hunting all right. For her father, not the creature. Too bad she’s got her hands full with dueling covens, drunk revelers, and a whole lot of pool noodles. Oh. And it’s Mardi Gras. Of course it is. But as the locals say, laissez les bons temps rouler.

And so it begins…
Revisado: 02-15-23
This series is one that keeps giving It’s main characters beat palpitations… and probably ulcers. Lol
Rue, the new deputy director for Black Hat, and her crew are on the road to New Orleans. There are bodies missing for the morgues, a ‘monster’ in Lake Pontchartrain…and its Mardi Gras. What can go wrong, right?
There were battles, heart aches and a whole mess of ups and downs but it wasn’t as ‘in depth’ for me as the first few books. However, I did enjoy it. I love seeing what kind of shenanigans Clay and Colbie get into, all while Rue and Asa fight side by side, to Not only keep the other safe, but to keep their family safe. If Rue’s plans to dig her heels into the inner walls of the Black Hats, she has to find a way to grow all while keeping her enemies in the dark.
It’s a twisty road ro redemption….and for Rue, it could be one that ends in a blazing glory of fire.

Monsters with a taste for children are nothing new, but fairy tales never mentioned this nightmarish predator. Rue has her hands full tracking the creature hunting the streets of Charleston, but a call from home divides her attention—and her loyalties. A stranger has come to Hollis Apothecary, asking questions that prickle the hairs on her nape, but she can't abandon the victims based only on a bad feeling. The pit in her stomach only grows when the stranger takes a hostage and makes his demands. He wants to talk to Rue, face to face. Or else.

#TeamRue for the win!
Revisado: 02-14-23
The crew is at it again. Together they’re going to kick butt and take names. Maybe not in that order.
I love Rue. Her bond with Colbie, Clay and Asa grows with each book. I will say, shew, the amount of trouble that follows this group is banana pants—and yet—it makes the story all the better.
When someone shows up and puts her people in danger, Rue will do what’s needed to keep them safe. If her claws come out, you better watch yourself.
I like the way things unfold. You think, “oh, I knew it as…nope. Dang, I didn’t see that coming”. Maybe that’s just me but I like when it’s not what I think it is. Bad guys, monsters, jerks… the story has it all and we get to see the team acting and reacting to what’s happening. They’re a well oiled machine to say the least.

A fitting end…
Revisado: 02-06-23
Another great read from Shannon and Kelly. There were many twists and turns… I so didn’t see a lot of that coming. Which is good. The surprises are worth the wait. Lol
Kallick and Lan have a some hard choices to make not only for themselves but for the entirety of the fae. The giant is on the war path, Adair is up to no good, as usual and now…. Things have hit a whole new level of WTF.
One by one they’re making changes for a better future. Now they just have to fight to save what they’ve built. When walls come crashing down around them… the hardest choice they’ll ever have to make falls at their feet.
This was a good end to this trilogy. I can’t to see what these two brilliant story tellers come up with next!

Winner, winner!
Revisado: 01-29-23
Another fabulous addition to the Bree Taggert Series! As always, Melinda had me riveted from page one. The twists and turns kept me going.
Bree is nothing if not a woman determined to find a killer, even if that puts her in the line of fire. I mean, She’s the Sheriff, it’s her place to step in and do the dirty stuff.
With a killer on the lose and bodies being left she has no choice but to pull out all the stops. With her trusty friend, lover and investigator, Matt at her side they’ll crack this case wide open. Secrets, lies and a little venom make this a great read start to finish! I can’t wait for more.

OMG I am so in love with this story!!
Revisado: 01-26-23
Oh. My. God. I have never laughed so hard at a story. Good lord.
Shannon, as always, has delivered a story full of... everything? Is that an option. There is a whole gambit of things happening and just when you think you know what's happening, she throws a curve ball that has you chasing after it like Cyn does her tail... I mean... LMAO
Is he the bad guy? No, is she? Is he? God it's like someone tossed all the chaos in a barrel adn dumped it over this poor girls head. I approve by the way. Epic.
Y'all, I think this is the best thing since... okay so I love all of her stuff but Cyn reminds me so much of Alex from the Rylee Series that I am so in love. I can not wait to find out what she puts this poor girl through next. It will be delicious, sinful and freaking hysterical. I have no doubts.

Just about everything Sloane Cabot knows about her past is a big old pile of malarkey. Couple that with the blank spot of how her family died, and she needs answers, like, yesterday. But when a man shows up dead on her family’s grave, she knows it somehow has to be tied to that fateful night a year ago.

Sloane is totally my spirit animal!
Revisado: 01-26-23
Cagey, crazy and all the spice. The woman doesn't back down form a fight... she will make you wish you'd never crossed her path all while being a little insecure, necrotic and a whole lot of... herself. Sassy!
She will keep the Night Watch on their toes for sure... and Bastian Cartwright, oh that man is totally over the moon, or maybe the grave. Not sure what he would call it but I know one thing, those two together and freaking unstoppable. (Unless Isis Kitty is around then he might just run off screaming... IYKYK)
This story was full of intrigue, suspense and of of course there was a little of the hotness that Sloane and Bastian conjure up when they are in the same room. How they don't catch the curtains on fire, I surely don't know.
Onto the next epic adventure we go.. let's see if Sloane can yell at a stubborn God some more... that was fun..
