Historia
Since the 1970s, FantasticLand has been the theme park where "Fun is Guaranteed!" But when a hurricane ravages the Florida coast and isolates the park, the employees find it anything but fun. Five weeks later, the authorities who rescue the survivors encounter a scene of horror. Photos soon emerge online of heads on spikes outside of rides and viscera and human bones littering the gift shops, breaking records for hits, views, likes, clicks, and shares.

Woah
Revisado: 02-10-22
I kinda thought this book would be hum-drum horror based on gore but oh boy was I incorrect. Some of the themes in this book are reminiscent of “Family Land” from American dad which I though would make the story more predictable, in some very small ways it was but the contrasts are what really hook you in. It’s the personal accounts that I feel reel you in, because, I personally, during the book was curious how other factions felt about the events that occurred, but with each person’s personal account regardless of their faction, helped make some of the more unbelievable, believable. My favorite line in the book is “if you hear about anyone being hurt or bad being done, one thing is sure, it won’t be the Deadpools” If you have the audible subscription that includes this book, I implore you, take some of your free time to listen to this free book. You will not be let down. Give it a 10 minute listen.. that’s all I ask…

This is on of the best books I picked up in 2020. I loved every single story in the book. It’s a mixed bag of what to expect but definitely worth it.

Some good and some bad
Revisado: 01-11-21
As with any anthology, this book has some really great stories but a few that aren’t so great. I would recommend it, because some of the stories are so good they make up for the bunk stories 3 fold.

Blizzaro sex scenes
Revisado: 11-13-20
I was very disheartened when I purchased this books in hopes it would be a good horror book, unfortunately the stories focused more on sexual scenes that were extremely detailed and in my opinion added no value to the story. Most of the stories were ok at best in my opinion. I would not recommend this book to real fans of horror.

This anthology of short stories contains many different elements fans of the horror and mystery genre will enjoy, such as: Time travel and playing around with the change of events. Zombies and outbreaks of the undead in apocalyptic scenarios. Survival in times when things get tough. Ghosts and the appearance of those from the other side to warn and scare their victims.

Narrator ruined it
Revisado: 01-23-20
The narrator for this story absolutely ruined it for me. Their voice is monotone through out every single story, even when it is stated that a character cried out or yelled it is all still just a drab monotone reading. There are a lot of action scenes in the stories this book contains and I feel they really could have benefited from even some light inflection of tone. There’s no differentiation in tone between when a character is sad, scared, bored or even screaming! I will say that the narrator isn’t the only thing that made this book less enjoyable. The writer often uses two words to describe something that totally contradict each other such as “she said silently” how can someone say something and it still be silent? She said softly or quietly would have gone better. There are a lot of instances in this book that made me do a double take because the word being used did not seem to fit the narration previous or did not fit contextually. The narrator also has a tendency to run chapter titles into the story. There are is no break or pause to tell you when the chapter title announcement ends and the story actually continues because they are ran together and the lack of inflection makes it all just sound the same. The stories are also not scary at all, they seem more intended for a preteen audience than anything. The stories are slightly interesting but not enough to cancel out the negative qualities this book has. I would recommend this book for preteens and anyone who is looking for a book to put them to sleep (the narration is so even And monotone it often lulls you to sleep).

We each inhabit many worlds, often at the same time. From worlds on the inside to the world on a cosmic scale. Worlds imposed on us, and worlds of our own making. In time, though, all worlds will end. With Skidding Into Oblivion, his fifth collection, award-winning author Brian Hodge brings together his most concentrated assortment yet. It includes all of the best picks and awards finalists. All stories have one thing in common: It’s the end of the world as we know it, and we don’t feel fine at all.

Oh wow!
Revisado: 12-09-19
This book was much better than I expected! The stories this collection contains are very intriguing and not about already played out plots. They are not what I would consider horror stories (I love some good spookies) but they draw you in with interesting concepts that, however outlandish, still also seem to have a firm root connecting them to a possible actuality in the world. There were a couple of stories I had to rewind a bit to ensure I heard the ending correctly, not because it was ill written, but because the ending was slightly bizarre. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking to go on a curious adventure of the odd possibilities that may be available in this world. I had never before experienced a book by Brian Hodge, but after listening to this collection, I am excited to experience any collections to come for his hand.

Definitely not hardcore horror
Revisado: 10-11-19
None of the stories in this collection, in my opinion, would be considered horror, let alone hard core horror. There are a few odd stories but not anything that will keep you up at night or even bother you for a moment after you are finished listening to them. None of the stories in this collection caused me any unease or anxiety. If you are a sincerely a horror lover looking for an amazing horror collection, I would advise you to not purchase this book because you will be let down. The stories were what I consider very juvenile and simplistic horror. In addition to the stories not being what I expected, in my opinion, a better narrator could have been selected. After a while of listening the narrators voice became a droning to me and it made it difficult to continue listening. A narrator who can inflect the tone of fear or unease at crucial points in a story are key to setting a scene for me and the narrator in this book, to me, seems to never change his tone, regardless of the situation. True horror lovers looking for a scare or even a great collection of chilling stories, this is not the book for you.
