Missed the mark
Revisado: 03-30-25
I don't know what to say other than this was probably the most disappointing book in the series. I ended up skipping several of the fight scenes because they were entirely predictable and rather pointless. And the ending was absolutely terrible.

A truth that sets him on a collision course with the most powerful figures in the world and could spell the end of DCO itself. Lost it's way
Revisado: 03-21-25
***SPOILER ALERT***
This isn't a bad book, but it requires a massive suspension of belief. Why would anyone turn to a literal kid nobody to save the world? The fact that "Hades" supposedly is a massively successful hacker and had uncovered the plot and has proof, but doesn't just send it out to literally every single person in the entire world is absolutely baffling to me. Put it in a Google Doc and drop that thing on Reddit and say good luck to anyone trying to control the spread of the information after that. That thing will be shared with the entire world by lunch.
James isn't special. He doesn't have super powers or really any amazing traits above a normal (although intelligent) boy. He has no authority or anything that would put him forward as integral to any plan.
I just do not know why the author went in this direction other than he started writing the series then decided some big conspiracy needs to be the finale and shoe-horned in this plot. I just don't get it.

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Boring?
Revisado: 12-28-24
This is my personal take - this one was boring. I skipped about 1 out of every 3 chapters (probably more later into the book). The Quinn and Dragon storylines were pointless. Once I realized that those storylines weren't going anywhere either, I started skipping those chapters as well. I really wish that this series was more about exploration and less about embedding themselves in a colony of aliens because all they do is slow the story down. Throw in the occasional dig at religions thrown in every 3rd chapter. Yeah, we get it, you don't like religion. It is the 5th book - can we move on now?

Where power is measured in cards, Arthur stands among the elite as a Legendary card wielder now forever linked to a frighteningly powerful dragon. Or Brixaby will be once he grows from the size of a parrot. Before that can happen, a chance encounter whisks Arthur and Brixaby away to a place they never thought possible: A new dragon hive outside the kingdom. This Free Hive doesn't suffer from the scourge that's infected the rest of the planet. It's a place where crafting using card powers is king.

What happened?
Revisado: 03-28-24
This book went totally off the rails. All of a sudden we are in an entirely new area completely disregarding the main storyline. Also, the MC and his 2nd are extremely annoying with their obsession with saving people that are their enemies.

Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Meh
Revisado: 08-05-23
I really wish her butterflies never happened in this series. With how many times she referred to her pets as "babies" "littles" "little ones" and them calling her "mommy" I just wanted to scream. They hijack the story and are completely unnecessary.

It was okay
Revisado: 07-29-23
The story was good, and the performance was excellent, but I could not get over the feeling that this book just felt like a filler to the 5th and final book.
The story and plot lines did not seem to go anywhere and I was left wondering why the author decided to have the core be able to dungeon dive when the series is just going to end in the next book. Just seems like a major diversion from any sort of actual plot - which I have to add - seemed to go nowhere this time.
The previous books did an excellent job of setting up the antagonists for each story arc, and the plot seemed to keep moving forward. This book just seemed to miss having an antagonist. It was well written and entertaining, but it also felt a bit hollow.
I am still looking forward to the final book and want to know how the series will end.

Tired of Akira
Revisado: 05-02-23
I'm so tired of the pet Akira. I skip past all of her lines. I'm also thankful for the mute curse on the MC. At least I got to dodge those cheesy speeches every other chapter in the previous books. And combat is rather boring. Constantly telling the classes that they need to do their jobs gets really repetitive. I mean, telling healers they need to heal and that tanks need to hold agro in just about every fight - come on...

Historia
Arthur Leywin may have survived the Relictombs, but he immediately finds himself embroiled in something far more complex and dangerous: Alacryan politics. Accused of crimes he didn’t commit, Arthur is forced to defend himself without drawing the attention of his most powerful enemies. He quickly discovers that the best place to hide may be in plain sight as he continues his quest for the power to control Fate itself. It is a race against time, however, as the greatest threat of the war so far closes in on Arthur’s loved ones in Dicathen.

Still tired of the little sister
Revisado: 04-07-23
This story was better than the last 2, and I owe that primarily to the much diminished inclusion of the little sister. Her storyline is inconsequential and boring. I've skipped almost all of the chapters from her perspective, and the little I did listen to just frustrated me.
I'm constantly confused as to why the author thinks she should be included, not to mention the other characters that try to justify a 14 year old little girl with no remarkable abilities should be lobbied to go to war. It is a decision that I don't understand.
Either way, her chapters can be largely skipped without missing out on the plot lines.
Also, it really diminishes the impact of a character that is close to the MC being in mortal peril and brought to the brink of death when the author has repeatedly demonstrated that something always happens that saves them from dying. This book is full of events like this. It really kills any hope of drama.
