Somewhat juvenile storyline, beautifully performed
Revisado: 01-25-23
Enjoyable if somewhat juvenile story, read beautifully by Ell Potter. But language alert - full of unnecessary profanities, and religious expletives that could be very offensive to some.

What a waste
Revisado: 01-30-22
Unbelievable and disappointing. The story line was so far over the top, and the narration was irritating. The voices were as unbelievable as the characters themselves.. Sorry I wasted my time listening to this drivel.

Ruined by narration
Revisado: 11-09-20
It could be a good story, but I'll have to read it to find out. The narration was so poor that I couldn't get past the first few chapter. The pauses were all in the wrong places, the intonation was irritating, It was just impossible to enjoy listening. Sorry.

What happens when the one that got away comes back? Find out in this sparkling debut from Mhairi McFarlane. Rachel and Ben. Ben and Rachel. It was them against the world. Until it all fell apart. It’s been a decade since they last spoke, but when Rachel bumps into Ben one rainy day, the years melt away. They’d been partners in crime and the best of friends. But life has moved on: Ben is married. Rachel is not. Yet in that split second, Rachel feels the old friendship return. And along with it, the broken heart she’s never been able to mend.

So disappointed
Revisado: 08-25-20
I love Julie Hesmondhalgh the actress, which was why I bought this book. But so disappointed. I’m a native English speaker (from the north, no less) but could not follow the narration. Could get past the accent but not the way words ran together and the strange intonation. I even started over to see if it got any better, but no luck. So couldn’t appreciate the story at all.

Could not stand to lsten to this reader a moment l
Revisado: 12-26-19
The story seems like it could be decent, but I could not listen to the narration a moment longer, Th inflection in the sentences is all wrong, the sentences are broken up in all the wrong places, and I some times wonder if the reader even understands what she is reading. For a story set in the north east, the accents are all wrong - no-one in Whitley Bay sounds like these characters. The "southern" pronunciation of "Newcastle" grated every time I heard it. And just overall the performance was breathy and irritating. I see the book is available via Kindle Unlimited, so I will finish reading this book the traditional way.
