Historia
It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.

she became dumb?
Revisado: 09-13-24
for a character with the literal life & street experience / savvy that she has, she's pretty stupid most of the time. again, the author duplicates thoughts and phrases so often, you can't help but say to the radio - we know already. also, not to be rude, for someone who cares about others, always helps, she had absolutely no compassion for her boyfriend's need to go home for his mother's illness. seems out of character. how many times does she have to say he's a really good guy...I need to tell him the whole truth. but doesn't.
pretty sure I don't have the patience to do another book in the series, even tho I typically follow characters. Just not sure I can handle the apparent stupidity she all of a sudden has all the time.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

predictable and repetitive
Revisado: 09-13-24
this story could have been decent. but the author repeats thoughts and phrases too many times. we got it already. the end just wraps up nearly like a big red bow. real life--pretty sure the characters don't just walk away as if nothing ever happened. I already bought the second book, I'm hoping it's better written.

There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Not my favorite Ballard/ Bosch story
Revisado: 08-21-24
After the first two, I was hooked & liked them together, went searching for the next book, glad to find one. However, This one fell flat to me, a lot of missed info glossed over from the last book. had to go back & make sure I didn't skip a book. Even the storyline seemed lacking and just wrapped up quickly. No real shocker of any kind. Disappointed. Hope the next book is more on point.

Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Way too long - needs to be edited, get to the point
Revisado: 07-28-24
Initial opening of story was interesting, as it progresses, it took a really long time to catch up to the "book's storyline description", where the character is an adult... it's like 8 hrs of background. At this point, it's not even character development, it's just -- let's get to the point already.
Author Spent 8 hours on history to wrap it all up in the last 4 chapters, 90 min. I could have been ok if this had been a non-fiction, capturing a true story, one person's research or perspective. No matter how much I liked the main character.... it just left me irritated.
30 yrs. 8 hrs. 35 chapters.
Every single HOT Topic you might read about, all in one book--for 8 long hours. Abuse. Physical and emotional neglect. Drugs. Alcohol. Sex. Parenting. Divorce. Homosexual couple. Domestic violence. Infertility. Cheating. Sexual assault. It's 10 hrs I can't get back....it is not like it was bad enough to quit. But 5-7 hrs in, you're invested to see what happened, now I wish I had just skipped to the last 3 chapters.

Historia
Caitlyn Sullivan had come from a long line of Hollywood royalty, stretching back to her Irish immigrant great-grandfather. At nine, she was already a star - yet still an innocent child who loved to play hide-and-seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared. Some may have considered her a pampered princess, but Cate was in fact a smart, scrappy fighter, and she managed to escape her abductors. Callan Cooper was shocked to find the bloodied, exhausted girl huddled in his house.

I enjoyed the story. some predictable, some not. but I really have enjoyed the characters in the last few Nora Robert's books. I love their dynamics. I wish all family support looked like like that. all true love worked like that.

Revisado: 03-09-24
Truly, maybe it's just me, but I loved the story and all the characters in the book, I loved their dynamics. I laughed out loud a few times for the conversations between the main characters. even tho I know how it ends, I could see myself listening to it again....
the only thing, I wish there were a few less instances of the f-bomb.... but not the worst I've heard. I wish I could find more by this narrator, as well as similar like stories.

F-bomb is the word of the day
Revisado: 11-20-23
I started liking Jon Reznick... but as the books go along, they've basically all the same. nothing new. more important, I'm just tired of the f-bomb dropped in EVERY CONVERSATION. 5 times in one sentence/ interaction. it just so old and unnecessary. I'm glad I didn't pre-buy the next book already.

Two other men are in the classroom—an FBI agent and a CIA analyst. Each is a first-rate operator, each is fresh off a big win, and each is wondering what the hell they are doing there. Then they find out: A Jihadist sleeper cell in Hamburg, Germany, has received an unexpected visitor—a Saudi courier, seeking safe haven while waiting to rendezvous with persons unknown.

Weeks before NYPD Detective Michael Bennett is to marry his longtime love, Mary Catherine, an assassin announces his presence in the city with a string of grisly murders. Each victim is a young woman. And each has been killed in a manner as precise as it was gruesome. Tasked with working alongside the FBI, Bennett and his gung-ho new partner uncover multiple cold-case homicides across the country that fit the same distinctive pattern—proving the perpetrator they seek is as experienced at ending lives as he is at evading detection.

I like the Michael Bennett series.. I like that it does not have to be raunchy or filled with foul language or too many horrific details. I like all of the character development. This was the best narrator of them all.. However the story just seemed to drop off... My assumption is that the character Will be showing up at some future time period But the story line just seemed to drop off.
