Historia
Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in—where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world’s end requires massive decisions made on seconds’ notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have. Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario explores this ticking-clock scenario.

Every person on this planet must read or listen to this book. The most frightening thing I have ever read, but the most informative. As I worked out in gym everyday, headphones on, I would continuously be saying as I listened, oh my God. That is how I leave this book, oh my God!

Historia
A gifted storyteller and spiritual director, Father James Martin, SJ, invites listeners to experience the stories of the Gospels in a completely new, vivid, and exciting way to gain a deeper understanding of Jesus. Moving sequentially through the Gospels, considering not only familiar passages but also the "hidden life" of Jesus, the book offers a bold retelling of the life of Christ, faithful to the Christian tradition, while meditating on parts of the narrative that have often escaped notice.

A wonderful pilgrimage.
Revisado: 01-27-23
I could not stop listening to this book. Having visited Israel in 93 this was a beautiful reminder of the time I touched stones and left with a richer, deeper and stronger faith. If u are a Christian, u should go visit the holy land. As described in this book, there is little to prepare u for seeing Capernaum, touching the water in the sea of Gaililee, touching Calvary and so many other sites authenticated by history and archaeology. It all comes to life in this book, a beautiful pilgrimage which offers additional insight into Jesus and the disciples. Outstanding book, well worth the money and the time to listen

This is the true crime best seller that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s film masterpiece GoodFellas, which brought to life the violence, the excess, the families, the wives and girlfriends, the drugs, the payoffs, the paybacks, the jail time, and the Feds...with Henry Hill’s crackling narration drawn straight out of Wiseguy and overseeing all the unforgettable action.

Historia
The Battle of Chancellorsville took place in 1863. One hundred and fifty-seven years later, what Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson did on that battlefield in Virginia is still being taught at the United States Military Academy, also known as West Point, and other military schools around the world. This battle, more than any other in the Civil War, cemented these two Southern military leaders as legends and as bold and innovative battlefield commanders.

Revisado: 06-27-20
There should be a limit on size of recordings. This as an example, was not worth a credit. Secondly, look at the title, the author doesn’t begin discussing Chancellorsville til the last 2 chapters. If I wanted a summary of generals and prior battles, I’ll get a book which is an overview. This title does not suggest an overview. When it gets to Chancellorsville there is an absolute paucity of useful information. Very disappointed in this book and in Audible for even making this available. This was a scam!

U become very attached to Janis Joplin. Story flows and brings back memories of the 60s. I had no idea of her background and pains. Story is well written and well read. Absolutely a joy to listen to. My Joplin albums all sound different now.

On October 5, 2017, the New York Times published an article by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey - and then the world changed. For months, Kantor and Twohey had been having confidential discussions with top actresses, former Weinstein employees, and other sources, learning of disturbing long-buried allegations. But nothing could have prepared them for what followed the publication of their Weinstein story. With superlative detail, insight, and journalistic expertise, Kantor and Twohey take us for the first time into the very heart of this social shift.

Great book! Gave an incredible look into life of an investigative journalist. Also, the woman who read book was fabulous, simply engaging. Clearly have to applaud NY Times, not fake news but the absolute friend of the people. Thank God for the Editors and reporters for making us aware of the truth! Authors did a wonderful job of painting a correct portrait of this disgusting human being. Creepy, simply creepy man.

The four Gospels are foundational to Christianity. Yet Christian readers are often puzzled by the differences between the Gospels, preferring to harmonize the four into a single narrative. Now, this 24-part lecture course invites you to understand each Gospel's distinctive message. Along the way, you will examine theories about how the three Synoptic Gospels are related. You will also learn why the evangelists are symbolized by four living creatures: the man or angel, the lion, the ox, and the eagle.

In Fateful Lightning, two-time Lincoln Prize-winning historian Allen C. Guelzo offers a marvelous portrait of the Civil War and its era, covering not only the major figures and epic battles, but also politics, religion, gender, race, diplomacy, and technology. He examines the strategy, the tactics, and the logistics of the Civil War and brings the most recent historical thinking to bear on emancipation, the presidency and the war powers, the blockade and international law, and the role of intellectuals, North and South.

I think that’s appropriate! How much better can u get than an expert like this giving an overview of the civil war. I read Dr. Guelzo’s book on Gettysburg, also listened to it in my car while traveling to Gettysburg last month. Incredible book. This book really takes u behind the scenes including politics, society, religious issues etc. I wanted an overview that didn’t focus on battle plans and casualties. This is more behind the scenes. Highly recommend if u want some understanding of our civil war.

Over the past hundred years, scholars have attacked the historical truth of the Gospels and argued that they were originally anonymous and filled with contradictions. In The Case for Jesus, Brant Pitre taps in to the wells of Christian scripture, history, and tradition to ask and answer a number of different questions, including: If we don't know who wrote the Gospels, how can we trust them? How are the four Gospels different from other Gospels, such as the lost Gospel of "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?

Worth every moment of listening
Revisado: 08-12-19
I’ve spent the better part of 66 years trying to figure out who Jesus was and how reliable were the gospels. If u have had a moment of doubt, this is for u. Many of the Authors cited, experts like NT Wright, Saunders, Ehrman, and so forth, all of their books r in my personal library. This short but incredibly informative book brought it all together. U must listen to the end, and in a quiet place, as the Author suggests, recall what Jesus said to the apostles and u should take the time and answer for yourself. “Who do you say I am?”. Go ahead, spend the time with this book and smile when you answer. Best yet! Wonderful book and narration! Thank u for bringing peace to my life!
