Definitely recommended if you’re curious about “Cozy Mysteries.”

First of all, this isn’t my genre. I’m not even the target audience. That being said, I loved this little story. This is perfect for when you just need a fun story that’s not too deep with normal people as characters. The fudge recipes throughout the book are interesting to listen to as well. I don’t cook or bake, but it makes me want to at least try.

The narrative was great too. She was consistent, and her inflection as the main character both speaking and her thoughts was perfect.

Narrator’s voice and accents were absolutely fantastic. As for the story, it’s easy to see why this is a timeless classic. Would recommend for any young reader, or adult reading to a young kid.

Amazing Performance

Intriguing characters, great story, amazing performance, and all in a world that makes steampunk seem very real. Do yourself a favor and jump into this.

So. Much. Shrugging.

So many characters in so many conversations “shrug.” Or, they give crooked smiles. Or both. I’m tempted to buy the kindle version just to get a word count on “shrug” and “crooked.” It’s probably more than 100, and after the first 50 it becomes jarring.

The narrator wasn’t my favorite, but I would rate him higher than the previous one. This guy would occasionally be describing scenes at a level ten on the enthusiasm scale when the scene probably only required a two. However, this was marginally better than the previous narrator who was the exact opposite. The story remains interesting—I just hope we can get one of the first two narrators to come back to the series.

And, please holy Langhorn, strike down any and all future shrugs. The sanity of my immortal soul begs this of you.

Narration Change

At first it was really jarring that the person reading this book changed, and in turn changed all the voices and accents of the characters. But, after a small adjustment period, I’ve come to appreciate the new changes, and prefer them over the old. The story continues to be great beyond that.
