Historia
Meet Assistant District Attorney Lettie Portman, a sex-crimes prosecutor whose past demands justice. When a 14-year-old girl is savagely attacked by her mother's live-in boyfriend, Lettie is called to the hospital. There, she meets a sweet young girl whose only goal is to go to school and come home to a safe environment. But mom's boyfriend makes the girl's world anything but safe. Soon, the abuse gets worse, and Lettie, the prosecutor, goes to the grand jury with the case. Two juries later, the abuser is still loose on the streets.

Huh?
Revisado: 12-06-24
This book is full of drama but it makes no sense so it was hard to concentrate. The legal portion is not accurate at all.

Historia
Mercer Mann, a popular writer from Camino Island, is back on the beach, marrying her boyfriend, Thomas, in a seaside ceremony. Bruce Cable, infamous owner of Bay Books, performs the wedding. Afterward, Bruce tells Mercer that he has stumbled upon an incredible story. Mercer desperately needs an idea for her next novel, and Bruce now has one. The true story is about Dark Isle, a sliver of a barrier island not far off the North Florida coast. It was settled by freed slaves three hundred years ago, and their descendants lived there until 1955, when the last one was forced to leave.

Not the best
Revisado: 09-07-24
More like a history lesson. I was not on the edge of my seat. Good to learn but I would love to be entertained too

Just the best series out there, this Nate Shepherd book does not disappoint even with the most abhorrent client yet

Love this series, but...
Revisado: 01-12-23
Love the Cass Leary series, but this was my least favorite so far. Too crazy and too emotional for me and compared to the previous books.

Historia
In this masterful debut, Martin Clark proves to be the heir apparent of great Southern raconteurs and the envy of more seasoned novelists as he takes us on a frantic tour of the modern South. Hung over, beaten by the unforgiving sun, bitter at his estranged wife, and dreading the day's docket of petty criminal cases, Judge Evers Wheeling is in need of something on the morning he's accosted by Ruth Esther English.

Long and winding
Revisado: 03-04-21
I've been on a year through this authors books. I love them. I think this was the first book, it was good. A bit of a winding journey. I think the more recent stuff is more exciting but this is worth it. Do check out his other works though, highly recommend those
