Historia
Twelve-year-old Takoda Schwartz, aka Koda, spends his days dodging bullies out to get him for his Native American heritage. One day, he touches a magic-loaded arrowhead on his family farm which lands him on his backside and gifts him with the ability to animate wooden objects. When a shape-shifting trickster god appears and knows far too much about Koda’s emerging powers, he opens Koda’s eyes to a real-life world of Native American mythology.

I hope the author writes a sequel!
Revisado: 03-09-21
I can't find a sequel to this book, but I hope there's one coming. This was a really well done tale. I saw somewhere that it was compared to Rick Riordan's mythology-based stories, and I would agree with that. I was reminded -- in a good way! -- of the Percy Jackson series in particular in tone and target audience. The author drew heavy inspiration from Native American folklore and legends (though she was careful to say right up front that it wasn't 100% accurately represented, and that the reader should dig deeper if they want to know more -- I appreciated that warning). It was a believable and enjoyable cast of characters that were really brought to life by the excellent narration. I would definitely recommend this book, and as I've indicated, I would welcome a continuation of the story.

The mysterious pilot was brought into the military hospital unconscious. The base didn't know who he was. Some thought he was an alien, some thought he was a Russian spy all because of the unknown, yet highly advanced airplane he was flying at the time of his crash.

Solid book
Revisado: 03-09-21
This was an interesting story that kept me listening from beginning to end. The 'fish out of water' parts of the story made me chuckle multiple times, since I can remember some of them from my early childhood (example: no television remote and only three channels). The time travel aspects were mindbending (in a good way) and really gave food for thought. I won't spoil them but they were really good. All in all, a solid story that was well done. I definitely recommend it.

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

A well-done production
Revisado: 03-09-21
This was a fun and funny story from beginning to end. The main character was a hoot, and it was great watching her question everything and buck tradition to forge her own route. The light elements of GameLit were also well-done. I thought Suzy Jackson nailed the material, like she always does. I will definitely listen to this one again, and if there was a sequel I would be all over it. Great job to all involved!

Historia
Alexis Silver has always defied convention: In the 1920s, she tried to attend college. Oh, by the way, she’s also a mermaid. When a well-to-do woman hires her to find her missing adventurer brother, Alexis feels like she’s landed straight in the middle of the sort of action movie they just don’t make anymore. The man’s trail leads all over the globe, but she suspects he’s not dead - yet. An international mining conglomerate evidently wants whatever the missing explorer has found, and they’re more than willing to kill anyone who gets in their way. Even mermaids.

Another fun romp with Alex
Revisado: 03-09-21
This was a fun story, and I continue to really like this series. Alex is just a really enjoyable character, and the authors have excelled at putting her in interesting but believable situations that force her to be inventive and are fun to watch unfold. The narration was also fantastic, various accents and all. Looking forward to the next installment in Alex's adventures.

Thought this was a terrific book! The worldbuilding was fascinating, the characters were very well done and believable, the action sequences felt intense, and the way the author peeled back the layers of intrigue kept me bingeing it. The narrator was also spot-on. Honored to have gotten this as a review copy in exchange for an honest review. I'm eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series!

Historia
With the dragons attacking and the kingdom falling apart, Azia must find out about her history to make changes to her future. But heading up the mountains to see the dragons is a downright insane idea. Fortunately for Azia, she has never been one to let a spark of insanity stop her from doing anything. With a cast of characters including a witch, a seer, dwarves, and of course, dragons, Heiress of Embers is the second spellbinding installment of the Kingdom of Fairytales: Sleeping Beauty.

Continuation of an enjoyable series
Revisado: 02-23-21
I enjoyed this second entry in the "what happens next" tale of Sleeping Beauty's family. More of the mystery of Azia's past is revealed, though it leads to more questions than answers for her, and it certainly ends on a bit of a cliffhanger in that respect. Interested to see where the author takes the story next. The narration continues to be fantastic. I received this as a free review copy in exchange for an honest review.

No one understands what it's like when your mother is famous for her beauty and you are, at best, average. Actually I'm wrong. She wasn't famous just for her beauty, but that's how people tell the story, how people have always told the story. That was even her name for a while. No one remembered her real name. She was just the sleeping princess or Sleeping Beauty. I'm only a footnote in my own life, destined to always be Sleeping Beauty's daughter. My name's Princess Azia Rose of Draconis, and here is my story....

Interesting "what happens next" tale
Revisado: 02-23-21
This story picks up roughly 18 years after the kiss that awakens Sleeping Beauty, and centers primarily on the oldest child and daughter of Briar Rose and the Prince (now King). It brings an interesting perspective to the question of what happens in the Happily (?) Ever After cliche' with which we are all familiar. I like the character development and story setup that takes place in this series starter, and the narration is fantastic also. My only complaint, if it actually is one, is that I wish the story was longer! I'm eager to find out what happens next. I received this as a free review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Surviving the End: The Complete Series is a collection of three apocalyptic thrillers: Crumbling World, Fallen World, and New World. Even before becoming a husband and father, safety had been Shane McDonald’s priority for most of his 45 years. As a nuclear engineer, it’s his responsibility to keep the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant functioning at optimum levels to avoid what protesters fear most: a meltdown.

At its best when focused on the characters
Revisado: 02-10-21
As the title of this review says, I felt this series was at its best when the author focused primarily on the characters, their relationships with each other, and how they banded together to overcome difficulty after difficulty. Otherwise, there were a lot of maddening (to me) inconsistencies that would at times nearly drive me to distraction from the main story. While I would get too long-winded detailing them if I tried, I will mention the most glaring which is what types of electronics survived the solar EMP and which didn't. Somehow cell phones survived while electronic car ignitions didn't. Cell phone towers did while backup generator electronics didn't. And so on. This wouldn't have bothered as much except it mattered a lot at various times in the plot. Anyway. As always your mileage may vary on things like those. In closing I'll mention two more things: 1). the narration was fantastic! and 2). I received this as a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, a good series
Revisado: 01-15-21
This wasn't a perfect series, but I did like it and would recommend it if you're in to the post-apocalyptic genre. While it dragged a little in places, I liked most of the characters and felt they were believable. My only real complaint in that area is that one of the main characters that you were supposed to ultimately root for was very unlikable and I mostly found myself wishing that a Maddened would take her out to simplify Ethan's life. But that might just be me. The narration was also good and earned a solid four stars.
