Well written and researched book. Massive cover up of the infiltration of King's SCLC. Pepper's research discovered King was a doomed man as far back as the Selma, Alabama Civil Rights March.

Tremendous audio book. The facts presented here should be investigated by MSM which is presented as mostly sitting on the sidelines either not wanting to become involved in revealing government and Establishment complicity in suspicious deaths or incarcerations. Much of what is revealed are crimes against persons, groups, or nations with a national security bandaid to make the shoddy business acceptable. Tremendous writer and a tremendous book. Highly recommended.

A warm over support of the Commission investigation theories that muddles the JFK witness testimony of events in Dealey Plaza. Witness testimony is mischaracterized. Frankly, this work is but a re-conviction of Lee Oswald. It is not worthy of even a once over for the mischaracterizations.

Shadowland: A Dutch Journalist's Quest

An intriguing quest is recounted by one Dutch investigative reporter to unravel the Kennedy Assassination. One good point revealed is that CIA control agents have a conscience and live with many shadows of the events in history that they have brought about. The reason(s) for killing killing President Kennedy is elusive, perhaps the bank rollers behind it cannot agree why he is to be hit, but hit the President must be. 3 gunshots or as many as 8--Definitely more than a single gunman with no known target practice, box of shells for that hit or that practice, nor any gun cleaning supplies. But a suspect with a connection to the TSBD and equally elusive connections to intelligence as an agent who stumbled or was pushed into the Assassination plot and then as an informant to the FBI when Oswald realized the organization he worked for wanted President Kennedy dead for shadowy reasons.

There remains a loose end--the role of the Paines and how the couple fit into cinching Oswald's part in the Assassination. A good read, presentation and nagging concentration on the shadows and what lies within those shadows.

The account of this scandal, coming in the middle of the national savings and loan crisis is shocking. I remember the Silverado scandal which involved the first President Bush's son of whom nothing is heard anymore. It is horrifying to learn that children and teens were prostituted across state lines and a few of these victims were the stars of snuff films, murders on video, produced to satisfy both hedonistic desires and blood lust in the mold of the Marquis DeSade.

As a Roman Catholic, I am not encouraged by the lack of leadership demonstrated by the Archdiocese of Omaha, the Archbishop who kept his house cassock clean in all this, nor in Fr. Valentine Peter, 4th Director of Boystown, who was more concerned with harassing his immediate predecessor, a monsignor who also happened to be a former Vicar General of the Archdiocese who called into question why boys were leaving the campus without appropriate supervision.

The lead Nebraska State Senate investigator and his young son who were blown up, in his plane, while flying back to Nebraska causes tremendous disgust with police authorities, especially the parochial Nebraska State Patrol that covered up the crimes and intimidated witnesses with the assistance of an FBI that promises to protect all citizens but never gets off of its self-serving backside to go after the victimizers.

I do not think it wise or prudent that the author narrate his own work as was the case here. Far too many quote, unquotes for information that is not a direct statement of someone or even a finding of some official body. What was "quoted" in that manner were the author/narrator's editorial asides which I could have done without--a tremendous distraction. I hold degrees in English Language and Literature so I do not make this judgment lightly. Also, it would have been helpful, for example, if the narrator had spoken to any official of the Archdiocese, past or present other than the retired, former Vicar General who had taken some unidentified pre-Boystown appointment concern to the then Archbishop as well as steps the Archdiocese took to protect the Boystown residents and campus. I speculate that this may have involved a priest in part and/or misdirected funds.

The book is a good account of an infamous event in US history. Details facts as well as unknowns, especially, of John Wilkes Booth's behavior up to and including President Lincoln's murder. Was Booth a tool of the Confederate Secret Service? Did Booth act in concert? From what sources did he receive funds? Was Mary Surrat an active, fully participating conspirator?

Overall, an account worth reading.

A good recounting of the death of Crown Prince Rudolph. This book touches on the flaws of man, his place in the imperial family, and his role as the heir to the empire.

Major rumors of the deaths at Mayerling are discussed, but one fact remains, especially for those who wish to believe that His Highness was distraught and depressed to unclear thinking. Rudolph rose at about 6 am on his last day; was dressed, and gave orders to his valet for days hunting party as well as breakfast and when he wished to be aroused from a nap at 7:30 am by his valet. Shortly after this, the valet hears two gunshots in close succession, smells gunpowder, attempts to open the door to the Crown Prince's apartment, finds it locked and tries to enter Rudolph's apartment through the Crown Princess's apartment but finding that connecting door also locked. The valet does attempt to call Rudolph's name but receives no answer, and so, lets the matter drop. Oddly, the valet does not summon any one, or all, of the three police guards who are posted to duty at Mayerling. Oversight? Sheer forgetfulness? Or orders not to?

One version of the death scene is simply a single gunshot to the head of each victim with a fully nude Mary Vetsera on the right side of the bed closest to the door. Rudolph is on left side of the bed, still dressed, legs over the side, gunshot wound to the right temple with a massive exit wound to left top and rear of his skull, presumed a murder suicide. Another version is the two victims were both murdered with the Crown Prince's body showing evidence of a struggle and the revolver not being his with all Chambers containing empty shells. A curious statement from a carriage driver to the effect that "the beaters and others will not be needed because the Crown Prince is dead." This statement is not explored as to how this servant knows this and the circumstances leading to this observation.

The murder-suicide account is accepted; yet, various cover stories are thrown up by the Imperial government as well as documents disappearing regarding events at Mayerling. There is just enough information existing to leave nagging questions. Yet the tragedy is enough to begin the end of the Habsburg empire.

Simply tremendous dramatic reading. Lionel Barrymore was Scrooge. Well worth listening to. Each part was well scripted as based on Dickens' story.
