We’re all afraid of things that go bump in the night. Shadows in the graveyard, wind moaning through the trees, a creaking door in a sinister old house. There are things hiding in the darkness. And sometimes, what you can’t see can definitely hurt you.... Scare Street is proud to present Night Terrors: Volumes one to three in a single collection. A menagerie of macabre nightmares, featuring 39 tales of supernatural horror for your listening pleasure.

Mediocre writing and poor resolution
Revisado: 09-18-24
A great deal of amateur writing goes on in this bundle. Filled with adverbs, over-abundant similes and too much beat me over the head telling. Many endings simply don't make sense as well.
There are many stories, in this and in following bundles, where a first person narrator tells the story only to die at the end... then how are they relating the tale? Mind, they're not ghosts or anything... they just get eaten by the monster or whatever. This is such a basic blunder it's laughable.
I'm sorry, but Scare Street needs to do much better than this.

Interesting... but some characters were annoyingly
Revisado: 10-05-23
A very interesting premise. What bothered me though was that the team, especially with Nora, spent more time arguing and quipping than actually figuring things out. and all Nora's function seemed to be was to be a b--ch. Whenever certain character would put forth a proposition - mind you, she asked them to be on the team - she'd snipe at them. it simply went beyond credibility that she never gave anyone the respect to hear them out. Maybe a bit too much boys bad girls good stuff, too.
The kraken was interesting - wish we could've actually focused on that more.

It's from these icy depths that Sonya believes a remnant species of megalodon shark has been set loose and that these ancient monsters are not only alive but thriving. With a recent spate of horrifying attacks, Sonya leads an expedition to put an end to the monsters for good.

Too much plot-convenient stupidity - a bit lazy
Revisado: 09-13-23
I red the first two books and they were pretty good. I think Mr. Beck does a good job with his science, for the most part. However, I have to say that in this one, there are just too many dumb things that are obvious plot devices.
Spoilers: A woman getting eaten and her weapon just happens to hit the ship instead of what she's pointing at... 4 Russians sneak up on a shipload of armed people and nobody notices... no matter how many weapons on board, they never fire them at the monster nor is it ever in their sights - in spite of the laser being able to penetrate seawater. And really? The Russian fisheren / pirates could simply have "asked" for help? WTF? That and how every winch or rope or line or haul up or any action designed to pull people from the water takes hours to complete while the shark just takes its sweet old time?
And one last thing... and I noticed this in previous books, too... how its fortunate that we have minor characters to get killed instead of our heroes most of the time. I will say that Mr. Beck does break that trope occasionally to his credit.
Again, a talented author who weaves a good tale... but this one sort of fell short for me.

What an exciting ride. I did enjoy the fact that Senor Cook broke Bull Shark into 2 series. It makes each book a little smaller and a faster read. Once more, Dave Alexander does a great job and I can't wait for the next installment.

Great detective sea adventure
Revisado: 08-31-22
Was great to see Jarvis using his new big sailing ship. Really cool how this series goes to so many interesting and real-life places. This time we got to go to the Caribbean by sail, and high-seas adventure, international intrigue and steamy romance ensues! Highly recommend.

Historia
The marines have seized control of the Japanese airfield on Guadalcanal, but this isn’t the end of their troubles…it’s only the beginning. The Japanese bomb them by day, attack from the forbidding darkness of the jungles by night, and their ships, like hungry sharks, prowl just offshore after the sun goes down. Whoever controls the canal controls the war. The Japanese know this, so they concoct a plan to send men and equipment ashore using fast destroyers—ships that can come by night and leave before the Cactus Airforce or Admiral Fletcher’s carrier planes can stop them.

A huge bang for your buck!
Revisado: 05-12-22
Wow, this one picks up where the last book left off and gets even bigger! You could almost make two books out of this one. What's really cool is that overlaying all the subbmarine, airplane and Marine combat action are compelling stories of characters who are as real as the historical figures who actually fought this war. It really brings the story to life and makes it realistically gritty and compelling.

Gotta love mel
Revisado: 04-04-22
I love stories with Mel Gorman. he's always such a great addition and quite a bad-ass in his guilless way. I've read all of Rodney's books, and i hope more are coming to audio. The recurring characters of Officer mel and his parents are great.
