Loved this book! Twists and turns throughout, thought I had it figured out at one point but I was way off! Author did a great job of intertwining all characters stories to tie them together in the end!

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Probably one of the best books I’ve listened to in a long while. The narrator was amazing. You felt every human emotion throughout this book/ laughing, crying, cringing, shocking… etc. it was so well written and executed. Wish I could find more of these gems out there!

Wanted to LOVE this but
Revisado: 03-08-23
I’ve very much enjoyed this author’s first few books and as soon as I saw she had a new book coming out I pre-ordered it. Was anxiously awaiting for it to release for over a month…. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED with this book.
It’s not good; it was extremely juvenile, far-fetched, unrealistic… definitely not what I expected coming from this author.
However, her first 3 books- The Last Affair, Best Friends Forever, and For Better and Worse are worth a credit!
I’m going to surmise that she was having an ‘off day’ when writing this book. If she comes out with another book, I would absolutely read but this was just simply, not good.

So moving. Really amazing. No spoilers
Revisado: 09-06-22
Everything about this book was so moving. The author couldn’t have done a better job describing both of the main characters lives before bringing them together in the last 3rd of the book. This book was so moving; it was thought provoking; it was so realistic. The author did an exceptional job of letting you get to know each character in depth so that at the end you truly understood the gravity of the situation. There were several moments where I thought I knew what was going to happen- where I thought that I could predict the ending; but I was wrong.
I’m an avid audible patron and listen to at least 3 books a month and have over 500 books in my library….
There was something so real and so raw about this book that i wonder if it comes from some bit of truth… this book has never been done before. You won’t regret listening to this.
This author has certainly set the bar for herself and I can’t wait to listen to her next book!

Slightly disappointed with the ending
Revisado: 08-16-22
The book was good. The narrator was good. I agree with other reviewers, you DEFINITELY have to pay attention to the names in this book so keep multitasking to a minimum! I wish there were more of an explanation in the end about one of the characters though.

Historia
Two women. Many aliases. Meg Williams. Maggie Littleton. Melody Wilde. Different names for the same person, depending on the town, depending on the job. She's a con artist who erases herself to become whoever you need her to be—a college student. A life coach. A real estate agent. Nothing about her is real. She slides alongside you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she's done, you've likely lost everything.

Historia
Some call him friend or boss. Some call him husband or dad. Some call him son, even a favorite son. But the only title that matters to him is the one the media has given him: the Poet. A name he earned from the written words he leaves behind after he kills that are as dark and mysterious as the reason he chooses his victims. One word, two, three, a story in a poem, a secret that only Detective Samantha Jazz can solve. Because, he’s writing this story for her.

Glad it was free
Revisado: 04-27-22
I’m a legitimate crime junkie. This was entertaining just enough to finish the book BUT I would never have bought this…ever!
It was kinda hokey, I think what ‘made’ the book were the narrators. I love Brittany Presley and Scott Brick, though I will say that this was not BP best performance but a lot of that probably had to do with the story itself.
It wasn’t terrible- an entertaining crime novel for the novice crime reader. I was really interested in the first 2 hours, then everything became entirely too predictable and a bit annoying, I enjoyed about 2 hours of the second half and then I was too far invested to just quit so I finished it. The last 1.5 hours leading up to the grand ending fell completely flat. I hate giving mediocre reviews but if not for the narrators this book would’ve been a flop for me.

In the course of her everyday work, career-driven assistant district attorney Nina Frost prosecutes child molesters and works determinedly to ensure that a legal system with too many loopholes keeps these criminals behind bars. Not her best
Revisado: 01-18-21
The entire scenario is likely to unfold ‘in real life’ the way it did in the book. This is definitely not her best work-
Nathaniel, who in the book is 5 y/o; the character portrayed wasn’t age appropriate for the things he said or did- it was more appropriate for that of AT LEAST a 7 y/o, and that’s pushing it. With that being said, Picoult is a fantastic author and this was a good book, but it certainly wasn’t her best.
The narration was appropriate and done well. It’s worth a listen for Picoult junkies but I don’t know that it would bode well with Picoult newbies.
